Software Engineer II
Job description
About the role
You will own the design and execution of critical data pipelines that form the backbone of LG Ad Solutions' advertising and ACR platforms. This role requires you to take full ownership of complex, terabyte-scale data flows, ensuring they are robust, scalable, and reliable. You will build and maintain the essential Data Platform tooling that allows the organization to operate with high integrity and speed. Furthermore, you will establish and enforce rigorous Data Governance and Data Compliance frameworks across the entire data ecosystem. You will be expected to define technical scopes and deliverables for features with limited guidance, demonstrating strong autonomous judgment. Your work will directly impact revenue by enabling accurate and timely data for advertising systems. You will communicate intricate technical architectures and decisions to diverse stakeholders, bridging the gap between engineering and business. Finally, you will collaborate daily with a globally distributed team, requiring consistent presence and effective coordination with colleagues in the US and India.
Key facts
What you'll do
- System Ownership: Build and maintain a comprehensive understanding across multiple complex data pipelines and platform projects owned by the Data & Platform Engineering team.
- Core Data Engineering: Design, develop, test, and deploy robust backend services and data pipelines processing terabytes of advertising and ACR data daily.
- Platform & Governance: Build and maintain internal platform tooling to enforce strict Data Governance, Data Quality, and Data Compliance standards across all data assets.
- Task Definition & Scoping: Autonomously define the scope, technical enhancements, and deliverables for features of limited complexity, and provide accurate time estimates for implementation.
- Feature Set Contribution: Effectively contribute to the planning and development of features affecting multiple components across our distributed data ecosystem with minimal guidance from senior leads.
- Advanced Debugging: Independently troubleshoot, debug, and resolve somewhat complex bugs within distributed environments and massive-scale data processing workflows running in production.
- Technical Communication: Comprehend and clearly communicate complex technical concepts - including technical designs, system architecture, and key engineering decisions - to both technical and non-technical stakeholders during meetings and documentation.
- Global Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, data scientists, and engineering counterparts located in the US and India, requiring proactive overlap with US time zones, typically aligning with core hours of 8 AM - 11 AM MST.
- Data Infrastructure Optimization: Identify bottlenecks in existing data workflows and implement optimizations to improve throughput, latency, and resource utilization of large-scale processing jobs.
- Data Quality Assurance: Develop and implement automated tests and validation checks to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of data flowing through critical pipelines.
- Process Automation: Automate routine operational tasks and monitoring for data pipelines to reduce manual overhead and increase team efficiency.
- Cross-Functional Integration: Partner with frontend and backend teams to ensure data services meet functional requirements and performance SLAs for advertising applications.
- Documentation and Knowledge Transfer: Maintain up-to-date technical documentation and provide clear knowledge transfer to ensure continuity and enable team growth.
- Continuous Learning and Adoption: Stay current with industry trends in data engineering and big data technologies to bring innovative solutions to the team.
