What you'll do
- Design and implement advanced Building Management Systems to optimize energy efficiency and operational performance in smart buildings.
- Conduct thorough assessments of existing BMS installations to identify areas for improvement and recommend upgrades or modifications.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and contractors to integrate BMS solutions seamlessly into new construction and renovation projects.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, design drawings, and operational manuals.
- Utilize data analytics to monitor system performance and identify trends, enabling proactive maintenance and system enhancements.
- Provide technical support and training to facility management teams on BMS operations and troubleshooting.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to building automation and energy management.
- Participate in project meetings and contribute to the development of project schedules and budgets, ensuring timely delivery of BMS projects.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in smart building solutions to continually enhance Learnd's offerings.
- Work closely with the IT department to ensure seamless integration of BMS with other building systems and technologies.
- Assist in the development of sustainability initiatives aimed at reducing the environmental impact of building operations.
- Prepare and present reports on system performance and project progress to stakeholders and management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in building management systems or related fields, with a strong focus on smart building technologies.
- Proficient in BMS software platforms such as Tridium, Johnson Controls, or Honeywell.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical systems, and energy management principles.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with data analysis tools and techniques to drive performance improvements.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes, standards, and regulations.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Nice to have
- Certification in BMS or energy management (e.g., CEM, LEED AP) is a plus.
- Experience with IoT technologies and their application in smart buildings.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles as they relate to building automation systems.
- Familiarity with project management software and methodologies.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools.
- Experience with AutoCAD or similar design software for creating system layouts and schematics.
- Familiarity with programming languages used in BMS, such as BACnet, Modbus, or LONworks.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex data sets and make informed decisions.
Practical notes
This position is based in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, and may require occasional travel to project sites. The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment while also being able to manage individual responsibilities effectively.
