About the role
Later is seeking an IT Operations Co-op student to support our internal technology infrastructure and employee experience. You will work alongside our IT team to manage daily operations, troubleshoot hardware and software, and assist with identity management in a growing tech environment. In this co-op position, you will own the end-to-end resolution of routine service desk incidents, ensuring minimal disruption to team productivity. You will serve as the first point of contact for employees encountering technical issues, guiding them through clear troubleshooting steps with patience and precision. The role requires you to balance independent execution with collaboration, escalating complex problems to senior team members when necessary. You will also contribute to process improvement by identifying patterns in support requests and suggesting changes that reduce friction for users. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented learner who wants to understand how technology supports a modern business every day.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Manage daily service desk tickets by troubleshooting Wi-Fi, application, account, and laptop issues.
- Handle employee onboarding and offboarding tasks, including account provisioning and hardware deployment.
- Maintain accurate records for hardware and software inventory.
- Administer Google Workspace accounts, groups, and permissions.
- Support Google SSO, MFA, and access management for internal applications.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, troubleshooting guides, and help articles.
- Escalate high-level technical problems to senior team members.
- Identify opportunities to improve IT workflows and reduce recurring support requests.
- Monitor system performance and user feedback to anticipate potential technology roadblocks.
- Coordinate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve hardware and software procurement issues.
- Perform routine checks on user devices to ensure security policies and software updates are applied.
- Assist in testing new tools or features before they are rolled out to the broader organization.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a degree or diploma program for Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or Systems Administration.
- Foundational knowledge of operating systems and workplace software.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a customer-service focus.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical staff.
- High level of attention to detail and a commitment to documentation.
- Capacity to manage multiple tasks and request assistance when needed.
- Eligibility to work in Canada without restrictions for the duration of the co-op engagement.
- Access to a reliable device and high-speed internet that meet company standards for remote work.
- Availability to work from the Vancouver office as required by the hybrid schedule.
- Commitment to adhering to company policies, security procedures, and data protection standards.
- Willingness to participate in regular check-ins and performance feedback sessions with the IT team.
- Openness to learning new tools and adjusting workflows in response to evolving business needs.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in a technical support role, whether through internships, volunteer work, or personal projects.
- Familiarity with macOS or Windows environments.
- Practical knowledge of Slack, Zoom, or Google Workspace.
- Understanding of SaaS applications, user permissions, SSO, or MFA.
- Experience with ticketing systems.
- Interest in areas such as scripting, automation, or systems administration.
