What you'll do

• Assist in the daily operations of Camp Baker, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere for all guests.
• Prepare and serve meals in accordance with health and safety regulations, catering to various dietary needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and dining areas, adhering to strict hygiene standards.
• Engage with guests to provide information about camp activities, local attractions, and services available.
• Collaborate with team members to plan and execute recreational activities, fostering a sense of community among guests.
• Monitor inventory levels of food and supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure smooth operations.
• Assist in setting up and breaking down camp facilities, including tents, dining areas, and recreational spaces.
• Provide first aid and emergency response as needed, ensuring the safety and well-being of all guests and staff.
• Participate in team meetings to discuss feedback, improvements, and ideas for enhancing the guest experience.
• Uphold the values and mission of Bamboohr, promoting sustainability and respect for the natural environment.
• Support the training of new staff members, sharing knowledge and best practices to ensure a cohesive team dynamic.
• Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the overall success of Camp Baker operations.

Requirements

• Previous experience in hospitality or camp management is preferred, ideally in a seasonal or outdoor setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups of people.
• Basic cooking skills and knowledge of food safety practices are essential.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
• Physical stamina to perform tasks that may require lifting, standing for long periods, and working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• First Aid and CPR certification is highly desirable; training may be provided for the right candidate.
• A valid driver's license is a plus, especially for transportation of supplies and guests.
• Flexibility in work hours, including weekends and holidays, is necessary to meet the needs of the camp.
• A passion for outdoor activities and a commitment to providing exceptional guest service.

Nice to have

• Experience with event planning or coordination, particularly in outdoor or camp settings.
• Knowledge of local flora and fauna, as well as cultural history, to enhance guest interactions.
• Familiarity with sustainability practices and eco-friendly operations in a camp environment.
• Previous experience working with children or youth in a camp or educational setting.
• Multilingual abilities to cater to a diverse clientele are an asset.

• Proficiency in basic kitchen equipment and tools, including stoves, grills, and dishwashers.
• Familiarity with outdoor recreational equipment such as canoes, kayaks, and hiking gear.

• Ability to use basic computer software for scheduling, inventory management, and communication.
• Knowledge of safety protocols and emergency procedures in a camp environment.
