What you'll do
- Design and implement Rust services and libraries for trading, payments, and crypto applications, prioritizing reliability and performance above all other metrics.
- Develop highly efficient, reusable, and testable code for critical revenue systems, ensuring safety, security, and long-term maintainability in every line you write.
- Collaborate on the architecture of large-scale distributed systems, translating ambiguous product needs into resilient, low-latency solutions that meet strict operational requirements.
- Work alongside a large group of experienced Rust engineers in a product-focused engineering environment where mentorship and collective code ownership are highly valued.
- Take responsibility for the full lifecycle of software components, from initial design and implementation through to deployment, monitoring, and iterative improvement.
- Independently debug complex issues across the entire technology stack, including operating system behavior, network protocols, and application logic to identify root causes quickly.
- Partner closely with product teams to gather detailed requirements and constraints, ensuring that system design aligns with business objectives and technical feasibility.
- Drive the creation of end-to-end owned systems and libraries, ensuring that all components integrate seamlessly and meet the stringent demands of production environments.
- Analyze performance bottlenecks and implement optimizations that enhance throughput and reduce latency in high-transaction financial systems.
- Champion best practices in software development, including code review, testing strategies, and documentation to elevate the overall quality of the engineering organization.
- Implement observability and logging solutions to ensure that system behavior is transparent and actionable for operations and engineering teams.
- Explore and evaluate new technologies and frameworks, proposing innovative solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the current infrastructure.
- Ensure that all code changes comply with security policies and regulatory requirements relevant to financial services and data protection.
- Mentor junior engineers by providing guidance and code examples, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement within the team.
Requirements
- Possess 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering, demonstrating a consistent track record of delivering complex projects on time.
- Exhibit proficiency in writing network services or asynchronous code using Rust, with a portfolio of production-grade projects to support this claim.
- Maintain a security-first approach to system design, proactively identifying potential vulnerabilities and mitigating risks before implementation.
- Demonstrate the ability to independently debug issues across the entire stack, including OS, network, and application layers, without requiring constant supervision.
- Show a strong understanding of distributed systems and technologies like RPC protocols, Kafka, and Event-Driven Systems to design scalable and robust solutions.
- Engage in effective collaboration with product teams to gather requirements and constraints, ensuring that system design decisions are well-informed and strategic.
- Take full end-to-end ownership of systems and libraries, seeing projects through from conception to completion and beyond.
- Comply with all company policies, legal requirements, and industry standards relevant to the role and the financial services sector.
