What you'll do

You will capture underground geometry through surveys that shape project planning and construction sequencing. Survey outputs will enable safe shaft sinking and support all construction activities on site. You will integrate survey data with KoBold's systems to maintain digital records that reflect reality accurately. Volumes and tonnages will be calculated from your measurements to support inventory management and regulatory reporting. You will align shafts, tunnels, and surface facilities through precise survey control and rigorous verification checks. Instruments including Total Stations, GPS, Gyrotheodolites, and Laser Scanners will be maintained, calibrated, and paired with survey software. You will keep survey records current to simplify internal reviews, inspections, and audits. Spatial data gaps will be identified, documented, and reported to decision-makers to drive corrective actions. You will supervise and mentor junior surveyors and assistants to build local capacity and standardise methods across teams. Daily project meetings will be attended to prioritise work and keep surveys on schedule against tight timelines. Requirements

Candidates must hold a recognised Degree or Diploma in Mine Surveying / Geomatics or equivalent experience that proves core competence in the discipline. You must possess a Valid Mine Surveyor's Certificate of Competency (MR 211(a)) issued by the Mines Safety Department of Zambia. A minimum of 5 years of experience in underground mine surveying is required, including hands on work in shaft sinking and construction environments. You will be proficient in using modern instruments such as Total Stations, GPS, Gyrotheodolites, and Laser Scanners in the field. Professional registration with the Surveyors Institute of Zambia (SIZ) or equivalent regulatory bodies is mandatory where registration standards apply. You will communicate clearly and effectively with engineers, mining teams, contractors, and regulatory authorities at all times. Safety and regulatory compliance must be upheld to meet MSD and Occupational Health & Safety Act standards without exception. You will demonstrate highest integrity, discretion, and professionalism in all statutory duties and when handling sensitive project data. Only Zambian national applications will be considered for this position. Regular travel to project sites is required, with at least one week per year spent in the field under the current engagement.
