What you'll do
- Design and architect scalable software modules that form the core of Jumio's identity verification and digital onboarding platform.
- Develop and maintain backend services and APIs that power secure identity checks and user authentication workflows.
- Write production-quality code in modern programming languages, ensuring readability, testability, and adherence to team coding standards.
- Conduct thorough code reviews for peers, providing constructive feedback and helping maintain a high standard of code quality across the repository.
- Diagnose and resolve defects and performance bottlenecks in the identity verification pipeline, working closely with the operations and support teams.
- Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into technical specifications and actionable development tasks.
- Contribute to the planning and estimation of engineering work during sprint planning sessions and help prioritize the development backlog.
- Mentor and guide junior and mid-level engineers, sharing technical knowledge through pair programming sessions and informal knowledge-sharing discussions.
- Build and integrate secure data pipelines that handle sensitive personal identity information in compliance with applicable privacy regulations.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions to ensure the reliability and uptime of critical identity verification services.
- Evaluate emerging tools, frameworks, and methodologies that could improve the team's development velocity and the quality of delivered software.
- Participate in incident response and postmortem activities, helping the team learn from outages and continuously improve system resilience.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline from an accredited institution.
- Extensive hands-on experience in software development, typically at a senior level, with a strong track record of delivering production systems.
- Deep understanding of data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented or functional programming paradigms applied to large-scale systems.
- Demonstrated experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices architectures in a distributed computing environment.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and the ability to deploy and manage applications using cloud-native services and infrastructure.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with team members who may be located in different countries and time zones.
- The ability to work independently and manage one's own schedule and priorities while remaining accountable for deliverables and commitments.
- Experience with version control systems, continuous integration, and continuous deployment practices as part of a modern software development lifecycle.

- Working knowledge of relational databases and NoSQL data stores for persisting and querying application data efficiently.
- Comfort with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes for deploying and managing containerized applications.
