About the role

Jumio is seeking a senior backend engineer to guide the technical strategy for systems that deploy and manage machine learning models. You will work alongside product and platform groups to create high-performance services for biometrics and identity verification. In this capacity, you will own the end to end lifecycle of critical backend services that power identity verification products. You will be responsible for translating complex product requirements into scalable and reliable technical solutions. The role requires deep collaboration with cross functional teams to ensure architectural alignment with business objectives. What you'll do

• Architect backend services focused on biometrics and ML model delivery, ensuring solutions meet stringent performance and security requirements.
• Coordinate with platform and backend departments on company-wide technical projects to align implementation with architectural vision.
• Design platform features in partnership with business and engineering stakeholders to balance innovation with operational constraints.
• Oversee architectural reviews and provide mentorship to improve engineering standards across multiple teams.

Requirements

• Proficiency in backend development using Java is essential for building robust and maintainable services.
• Practical experience with Python is required, particularly for ML workflows and data processing tasks.
• Background in leading architectural design and mentoring technical staff is mandatory for this senior level position.
• Hands on experience with AWS services including DynamoDB, ECS, EC2, Redis, S3, and SageMaker is required.
• Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform is necessary to manage cloud resources effectively.
• Proficiency in CI/CD practices and production monitoring is a hard requirement for ensuring reliable deployments.
• Experience using observability platforms like Datadog or New Relic is required for operational visibility.
• Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools like Docker, ECS, and Kubernetes is essential for modern service deployment.
• Understanding of production deployment lifecycles for ML models is required to manage models from development to production.
