What you'll do

• Develop and implement purchasing strategies that align with the company's objectives and budgetary constraints.
• Conduct thorough market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their offerings based on quality, price, and delivery capabilities.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure the best possible terms and conditions, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements.
• Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with various departments to forecast demand and manage stock efficiently.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including logistics and finance, to streamline procurement processes and enhance operational efficiency.
• Maintain accurate records of purchasing activities, supplier performance, and contract negotiations to support decision-making and reporting.
• Analyze procurement data to identify trends, cost-saving opportunities, and areas for improvement in the supply chain.
• Foster strong relationships with suppliers to ensure reliability and quality of service, addressing any issues that may arise promptly.
• Stay updated on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that may impact procurement activities.
• Participate in supplier audits and assessments to ensure compliance with quality standards and ethical sourcing practices.
• Prepare and present reports on purchasing activities, savings achieved, and supplier performance to senior management.
• Mentor and guide junior purchasing staff, sharing best practices and fostering a culture of continuous improvement within the team.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing favorable terms with suppliers.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.
• Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external partners.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of supply chain management principles and best practices.
• Familiarity with contract law and regulatory compliance in procurement.

Nice to have

• Certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., CIPS, CPSM) is an advantage.
• Experience with ERP systems and e-procurement tools.
• Multilingual skills, particularly in Malay and English, would be beneficial.
• Previous experience in a leadership role within a purchasing department.
