Software Engineer (H/F)
Job description
About the role
At Ippon Technologies, the Software Engineer (H/F) role is positioned at the heart of a large, collaborative software engineering community. Since 2002, Ippon has been a leader in digital consulting, with expertise in software and mobile development, data, artificial intelligence, cloud, and IT architecture and strategy. With over 800 collaborators worldwide and more than 200 engineers in France alone, you will join a community-based structure that values software craftsmanship, technical excellence, and knowledge sharing. This is a permanent, remote position embedded within an agile, cross-functional environment where your expertise will directly influence architectural decisions and drive digital transformation for high-impact clients. You will work using methodologies such as SCRUM, XP, and SAFe, with a strong emphasis on clean code, quality, and continuous improvement. This role is ideal for a passionate engineer seeking growth, autonomy, and meaningful impact within a dynamic, international team.
What you'll do
You will orchestrate the design and implementation of scalable software solutions using modern practices and cloud-native approaches. As a technical contributor and influencer, you will champion clean code principles to ensure long-term maintainability and project health. You will collaborate within agile frameworks like SCRUM, XP, and SAFe to define, deliver, and continuously improve high-quality software increments. Leveraging public cloud platforms, and notably AWS, you will optimize infrastructure and deployment strategies to meet evolving client needs.
Your responsibilities will include actively shaping technical choices related to frameworks, libraries, and CI/CD pipelines, while mentoring junior engineers to elevate the overall skill level of the team. You will participate in technical discussions, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions such as IppDej and IppSize, contributing to the collective expertise of the community. You will explore and prototype new technologies to provide a competitive edge for client projects, always applying software craftsmanship principles by leaving the camp cleaner than you found it. Additionally, you will represent Ippon Technologies as a speaker or technical evaluator in internal and external forums, and engage in continuous learning through the company's BlackBelt program and other internal training initiatives.
Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must hold a Bac +5 degree and have at least 3 years of significant experience as a Software Engineer. You should write clean code and place a high importance on code quality, technical excellence, and software craftsmanship. Proficiency with version control systems and modern development workflows is essential, along with a solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns. You must be experienced collaborating in agile environments and adhering to iterative delivery methods. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to debug complex issues are fundamental, as is effective communication in English to collaborate with international teams. A proactive mindset and a willingness to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies are mandatory.
According to the official Ippon Technologies description, a significant advantage is a solid knowledge of a public cloud, and specifically AWS. Additional "Nice to have" qualifications include experience with frontend frameworks such as Angular, Vue, or React, and knowledge of backend technologies such as Java/Spring, Node.js, or Python. Understanding DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is considered a strong asset, as is prior experience contributing to scalable, maintainable systems within a community-driven engineering culture.
Practical notes
This position is based on a permanent contract with opportunities for career advancement and growth through Ippon's BlackBelt program. The role supports a hybrid work model with 2 days of telecommuting per week. Candidates must be eligible to work remotely without sponsorship constraints. The recruitment process includes an HR interview with a commercial partner, a technical assessment with a technical reference, and a strategic discussion with leadership. You will be based at the Nantes agency, located on the Île de Nantes and composed of 45 consultants, providing a dynamic and close-knit team environment.
