AI Infusion in Existing Operational System
Job description
About the role
This internship position places you at the intersection of defense technology and operational readiness within the Indian Army framework. You will own the end to end implementation of AI driven enhancements for existing military workflows and decision support pipelines. The role requires you to translate complex problem statements into robust automated solutions that adhere to strict security and compliance standards. You will work directly with domain experts to refine requirements and validate the practical utility of intelligent systems in field scenarios. Expect to operate at the tactical level of software delivery where reliability and clarity are non negotiable. Your contributions will focus on augmenting human operators with machine intelligence rather than replacing critical human judgment. You will be responsible for documenting processes, maintaining version control, and ensuring that all deliverables are reproducible and auditable. This is a hands on role where your code and configurations will directly influence the efficiency of operational procedures.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Investigate legacy workflows to identify points where AI and ML techniques can reduce manual effort and improve accuracy.
- Engineer features from operational data sets collected from radars, aerospace platforms, and related sensor suites.
- Build and train machine learning models that can generalize across varied conditions encountered in defense environments.
- Apply deep learning architectures to pattern recognition tasks relevant to surveillance and reconnaissance operations.
- Integrate intelligent software modules into existing Army applications using standardized software interfaces.
- Conduct rigorous testing of automated systems to verify performance, robustness, and resilience under stress conditions.
- Collaborate with technical teams to align AI capabilities with real world mission objectives and constraints.
- Implement data pipelines that ensure the integrity, provenance, and confidentiality of defense related information.
- Configure and optimize models running on specialized hardware used in aerospace and radar processing contexts.
- Document architectural decisions, model behaviors, and deployment procedures for future maintenance and audits.
- Support the rollout of intelligent systems by preparing training materials for end users and support staff.
- Monitor deployed models in quasi operational settings and iterate on improvements based on feedback loops.
- Ensure all automation adheres to the strict regulatory and security policies governing Indian Army information systems.
- Contribute to research on emerging AI technologies that could provide asymmetric advantages in operational scenarios.
Requirements
You must be currently pursuing a B.Tech. or B.E. or an equivalent qualification with a specialization in Computer Science. Your academic background should provide a solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and computational theory. You need to be available for the full 75 days of the internship period without interruption or extended leave. Demonstrate a relevant skill set that includes proficiency in machine learning, deep learning, and modern software engineering practices. Show a clear interest in applying these skills to challenging domains such as radars and aerospace systems. You should possess strong analytical abilities to dissect complex problems and design effective automated solutions. Previous exposure to defense, security, or national level projects is not mandatory but is considered a significant advantage. You must be able to work methodically in a structured environment where processes and compliance are as important as innovation. Good written and verbal communication skills are essential for coordinating with multidisciplinary teams. A disciplined approach to time management is required to meet strict deadlines and deliver high quality work. You must be comfortable working with classified or sensitive data handling procedures under guidance. Your commitment to ethical use of AI and adherence to organizational policies must be unquestionable.
Nice to have
Preferred candidates will have hands on experience with radar signal processing, aerospace control systems, or similar mission critical applications. Knowledge of secure software development lifecycle practices and compliance frameworks used in defense organizations is highly valued. Experience with building intelligent systems that operate in constrained or edge computing environments is an advantage. Familiarity with open source machine learning frameworks and version control workflows is expected. Understanding of the strategic implications of AI infusion in military contexts will set you apart from other applicants.
