What you'll do
- Build containerized microservices for a distributed, multi-tenant system that processes data and real-time events from public clouds.
- Design services, detail specifications, present architectures for peer review, and deliver implementations that meet stringent security standards.
- Guide junior engineers, new graduates, and interns to help them develop and contribute effectively through mentorship and code review.
- Primarily write code in Go and interact with data pipelines using SQL or similar interfaces to ensure efficient data handling.
- Manage critical features and subsystems from requirements definition through deployment and customer use, ensuring alignment with product goals.
- Address operational challenges of the system to improve software supportability and reliability in production environments.
- Maintain high code quality through early developer testing and functional/integration testing to prevent regressions and defects.
- Collaborate with Product Management to refine requirements that meet customer needs and translate business goals into technical tasks.
- Understand customer problems deeply through interaction with stakeholders and peers to inform solution design and prioritization.
- Implement security-focused features within cloud-native platforms to enforce policies and monitor potential vulnerabilities.
- Optimize application performance and scalability by analyzing system behavior and adjusting resource utilization accordingly.
- Participate in on-call rotations to respond to production incidents and support continuous system availability.
- Work with open source dependencies and internal libraries to ensure best practices for security and maintainability.
- Document technical decisions and system behaviors to facilitate knowledge sharing and long-term maintainability.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field is required for this position.
- At least 8 years of experience building scalable, distributed software and systems is mandatory for this role.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP at the API/programming level is essential for successful performance.
- Proficiency in Go and SQL is required to write efficient and maintainable code.
- Experience with REST API clients is necessary for integrating services and external systems.
- General understanding of TCP/IP networking is required to troubleshoot and optimize communication paths.
- Experience in a Unix/Linux programming environment is mandatory for development and debugging tasks.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a distributed team in a fast-paced engineering culture.
- Willingness to adhere to strict compliance and security protocols as part of daily development activities.
Nice to have
- Master's degree is preferred for advanced research or specialized technical tasks.
- Experience with networking and security controls is preferred for deeper integration work.
- Background in CloudFormation, Terraform, or Ansible is preferred for infrastructure management tasks.
