What you'll do
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that deliver personalized health recommendations to users.
- Build and optimize the core infrastructure supporting AI-driven experimentation, recommendation engines, and machine learning workflows.
- Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to integrate predictive models and LLM applications into production environments.
- Develop and maintain highly available, resilient, and distributed systems that can handle large volumes of data and user requests.
- Improve internal tools, testing frameworks, and data processing pipelines to ensure and efficient platform operations.
- Work closely with other engineering teams to establish best practices, reusable components, and shared standards across the organization.
- Investigate emerging AI and LLM technologies, evaluate their applicability, and implement innovative solutions to enhance healthcare delivery.
- Lead complex technical projects that involve multiple teams, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality outcomes.
- Mentor and guide other engineers through code reviews, technical discussions, and knowledge sharing to foster a collaborative engineering culture.
- Contribute to defining the strategic technical direction of the MedMatch platform and broader AI initiatives within the company.
- Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical planning to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions.
- Engage in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and incident response to maintain platform stability and reliability.
- Document system designs, APIs, and best practices to facilitate onboarding and knowledge transfer across teams.
- Advocate for engineering excellence, code quality, and adherence to security and compliance standards.
- Support the deployment and monitoring of AI models in production environments, ensuring continuous improvement and compliance with healthcare regulations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software engineering, with a focus on building and maintaining production systems.
- Deep expertise in backend development, including designing APIs, building distributed systems, and working with cloud-native infrastructure.
- Proven experience leading major technical projects, influencing architecture decisions, and driving technical excellence.
- Strong knowledge of building data-intensive applications that machine learning or recommendation algorithms.
- Proficiency in Python, with a solid understanding of software development best practices and modern methodologies.
- Experience integrating machine learning models, recommendation systems, or large language models (LLMs) into live products.
- Familiarity with the entire machine learning lifecycle, including training, deployment, monitoring, and model management.
- Ability to balance immediate product delivery needs with long-term system health, scalability, and maintainability.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across cross-functional teams, including data science, product, and engineering.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving technical challenges.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities and multiple stakeholders.
