Director, Category Management, Hims
Job description
Director, Category Management, Hims at Hims And Hers.
About the role
Hims & Hers is the leading health and wellness platform, on a mission to help the world feel great through the power of better health. The Director, Category Management will own the initiatives that decide whether a Hims category wins - the biggest levers on the P&L across acquisition, retention, and new-treatment launches. You will be the strategic lead on these end-to-end initiatives, working with growth and ops partners and having a clear runway to grow into a General Manager running your own category. Hims is not a set of one-time transactions; it is a healthcare platform where value compounds through retention and cross-category adoption. You will be measured on the long-term, multi-specialty value your customers generate on the platform, not just on acquisition, and your ability to prioritize initiatives across all roadmaps. You will lead across clinical, pharmacy, regulatory, product, growth, analytics, and operations, bringing the rigor to defend every decision on the numbers and the speed to ship, learn, and iterate. You will report to the General Manager, Hims and partner closely with GMs and Directors across the Hims & Hers portfolio, supported by Sr. Managers on Category Strategy & Analysis.
What you'll do
Take end-to-end ownership of the initiatives that move the P&L most - across acquisition, retention, conversion, and new-treatment launches - from strategy through execution to results.
Own the unit economics behind these initiatives: CAC, LTV, ARPU, submit-to-subscriber (S2S), and contribution margin.
Run your initiatives as a portfolio, framing the opportunity, scoring trade-offs between impact and effort and must-have versus nice-to-have, sequencing the roadmap, and bringing a clear recommendation on what gets built and when.
Partner with growth and lifecycle teams to lift acquisition, S2S conversion, and retention across the funnel.
Shape the tech product roadmap with product and engineering, prioritizing the funnel, personalization, and experience investments that move conversion and retention, and holding the roadmap accountable to category outcomes.
Turn single-treatment buyers into multi-specialty members through cross-sell and long-term engagement.
Build pricing, bundling, and merchandising strategies that protect margin and LTV.
Own the treatment development roadmap for your categories, identifying, prioritizing, and sequencing new treatments, SKUs, form factors, and programs from business case to forecast to go-live.
Work with clinical, pharmacy, and regulatory teams to bring therapies to market safely and fast while building repeatable launch playbooks rather than one-off fixes.
Deliver an end-to-end experience that is premium, empathetic, and destigmatizing, ensuring clinical rigor without clinical coldness in categories where stigma is often the biggest barrier to care.
Pressure-test the journey as a customer would, from first touch through fulfillment and ongoing care, pairing qualitative insight with hard data to close experience gaps.
Be the go-to leader for your initiatives, aligning clinical, regulatory, product, growth, analytics, pharmacy, and operations, and keeping product and treatment roadmaps reconciled in one prioritized plan.
Direct the growth-ops and analytics resources behind you, acting as a thought partner to the Sr. Managers supporting your work and setting clear priorities and success criteria for everything you run.
Own the scorecard for your initiatives - revenue, contribution margin, retention, churn, S2S, ARPU, and treatment adoption - setting KPIs and reporting performance in business reviews.
Requirements
You have 7+ years in category management, strategy & operations, general management, or a related role with real business accountability, ideally in a high-growth, cross-functional environment.
You have a track record of owning high-stakes initiatives or a P&L and driving them to measurable revenue and impact.
You are comfortable operating in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment where priorities change and data is imperfect.
You are rigorous in your approach to decision-making, balancing qualitative insight with quantitative analysis to drive outcomes.
You communicate clearly and persuasively, able to influence leaders without direct authority and align cross-functional stakeholders around a shared plan.
You are comfortable working across highly regulated domains such as pharmacy and telehealth while keeping an eye on speed to market.
You have experience using data to prioritize roadmaps and prove impact, balancing leading and lagging indicators to guide decisions.
You are proactive in identifying risks, building contingency plans, and managing trade-offs between growth, compliance, and margin.
Nice to have
Experience in healthcare, pharmacy, or telehealth category roles where regulatory and clinical considerations are material to decision-making.
Background in pricing, bundling, or merchandising strategies that protect margin in subscription or membership models.
Experience building repeatable launch playbooks for new treatments or products in a regulated environment.
