About the role
Become a vital part of Handshake's Marketing team as the Field and Event Marketing Manager. In this position, you will oversee the planning and execution of marketing initiatives and events for two significant sectors: Careers, which caters to both employers and educational institutions, and Handshake AI, which focuses on engaging AI researchers and enterprise teams. Your responsibilities will include crafting and implementing impactful experiences, ranging from large-scale conferences to intimate executive gatherings. The goal is to drive lead generation, enhance client relationships, and accelerate sales cycles. You will report directly to the Senior Manager of Field Marketing and work closely with company executives and Go-To-Market leadership.

What you'll do
- Develop and implement strategies for field marketing, events, and campaigns across both business segments, ensuring alignment with overall marketing goals.
- Manage the entire lifecycle of events, from the initial concept through to execution and post-event evaluation, ensuring every detail is meticulously handled.
- Assist in budget management and resource allocation for marketing initiatives, including negotiating with vendors to optimize costs.
- Partner with Sales leadership to identify event opportunities that can enhance the enterprise pipeline and drive growth.
- Analyze the performance of field and customer campaigns, providing actionable insights based on data to improve future initiatives.
- Collaborate with teams in Demand Generation, Content, Product Marketing, and Marketing Operations to create integrated programs and content, leveraging AI tools to enhance efficiency.
- Assess and report on the return on investment for field marketing programs, tracking metrics such as attendee feedback, pipeline influence, and deal acceleration.
- Maintain an updated calendar of third-party events and manage relationships with external vendors to ensure seamless execution.
- Continuously bring fresh and innovative ideas to the marketing strategy, exploring new methods and approaches to engage audiences.
- Travel approximately once a month to attend and manage events, ensuring a hands-on presence.
- Coordinate a complex calendar of marketing initiatives, making informed decisions and providing clear recommendations to leadership on priorities.
Requirements
- A minimum of 4 years of experience in field marketing or event management, demonstrating a solid understanding of the industry.
- Proven track record of organizing a variety of events, including conferences, workshops, dinners, and webinars, showcasing versatility in event types.
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines effectively.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a proactive approach to fostering collaboration across teams.
- Familiarity with utilizing AI tools to boost productivity, including tasks such as content drafting, data analysis, and automating routine processes.
Nice to have
- Experience with tools such as Google Suite, SplashThat (or similar event management platforms), Salesforce, Marketo, Eloqua, HubSpot, Pardot, and virtual event platforms like Hopin, Goldcast, or Zoom Webinar.
- Background in Account-Based Marketing (ABM), demand generation, or managing high-touch executive programs, adding depth to your marketing expertise.
- Knowledge of the latest trends in field marketing and event management, contributing to innovative strategies.
