The Senior Litigation Docket Specialist based in Washington D.C. owns the daily operational execution within a Managing Attorney's Office, owning the full lifecycle of dockets from filing through enforcement. This role owns the integrity of filing, service, and retrieval of court documents across state and federal venues, ensuring every submission meets exacting standards. The position owns the maintenance and updating of all related databases, driving accuracy and consistency in every record. This role owns the intake and processing of incoming court documents, checking dockets for updates, and ensuring seamless docketing and calendaring. The Senior Litigation Docket Specialist owns communication with court personnel and attorneys regarding proper filing procedures and compliance. This role reports directly to the Managing Attorney.

What you'll do
Perform electronic court filings for state and federal district and appellate courts with precision and timeliness.
Screen and review incoming and outgoing court documents, ensuring strict compliance with court rules and procedures.
Enter and track calendar deadlines in centralized docketing software such as CourtAlert, maintaining an accurate and current record.
Retrieve and organize case materials by searching dockets using software and internet resources as investigative tools.
Track critical dates and related details, communicating proactively with attorneys, paralegals, and staff to manage workflow.
Process incoming court documents efficiently, checking dockets for updates and routing materials as required.
Travel to court and related administrative agencies to process court filings, retrieve decisions, and file necessary papers.
Assist with other administrative projects or provide general back-up support to the litigation team as priorities shift.
Maintain filing procedures knowledge for Washington D.C. state and federal courts and agencies, applying rules consistently.
Support litigation attorneys through research, document retrieval, and service of process, contributing to efficient case progression.
Requirements
The position involves significant contact with lawyers, court, and clerical staff, requiring solid interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
The Senior Litigation Docket Specialist must be highly organized and function effectively as a team player in a collaborative environment.
Able to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of personnel, including attorneys, co-workers, and administrators.
Must be flexible to respond quickly and positively to shifting demands and able to work under tight deadlines without compromising accuracy.
Able to plan, organize, and complete multiple related activities simultaneously while managing competing priorities.
Must deliver high quality work product and possess the ability to follow up and follow through on assigned tasks.
Must possess the ability to work independently, as well as on a team, in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
An understanding of court docketing and calendaring procedures and familiarity with court filings and general rules of court for processing pleadings is required.
Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience working in a large law firm highly desired.
Minimum of five (5) years of prior experience in a Managing Attorney/Clerk's Office preferred.
Proficient in Microsoft Office and experience with rules-based calendaring software such as CourtAlert, CompuLaw, MA3000, or similar systems preferred.
Experience with federal, state, and local court systems, including electronic filing systems such as NYSCEF, NexGen, PACER, and others.
General level of knowledge of court rules and procedures in Washington D.C. state and federal courts and agencies is required.
