About the role
We are seeking a Specialist BMS Designer to own the end-to-end definition and delivery of digital control strategies for our nuclear enrichment facilities. You will own the specification of the building automation systems that ensure operational reliability and safety for mission-critical infrastructure. This role requires you to translate complex process requirements into robust control logic and intelligent sequences. You will act as the central technical authority for the facility's digital nervous system across the project lifecycle. You will drive the implementation of high-performance automation that directly supports the reliability and efficiency of nuclear operations. This position demands a disciplined approach to integrating control systems with physical plant infrastructure. You will help define the future of industrial automation in the nuclear energy sector through precise system design.

Architect comprehensive BMS solutions tailored for nuclear and industrial environments, defining network topology and integration frameworks.
Develop detailed control sequences and I/O points lists that optimize system performance while adhering to strict safety and regulatory standards.
Design network architectures using BACnet, Modbus, and Niagara frameworks to guarantee interoperability across diverse industrial equipment.
Collaborate with MEP engineering teams to integrate HVAC plant controls, power monitoring systems, and process systems into a unified operator interface.
Implement digital twin capabilities by developing intelligent Revit families that accurately map sensors and controllers within BIM models.
Oversee system commissioning and functional performance testing, validating control logic sequences in real-world operational conditions.
Deploy advanced analytics strategies, including fault detection and diagnostics, energy sub-metering, and long-term trending for facility optimization.
Ensure robust cybersecurity hygiene within the building network, applying best practices for the protection of operational technology environments.
Lead the development of functional descriptions that align automation strategies with high-reliability operational requirements.
Drive innovation in control system design by exploring emerging tools and methodologies for high-performance industrial automation.
Coordinate with cross-functional partners to resolve integration challenges and maintain project delivery timelines.
Document system configurations and integration standards to support long-term maintainability and operational excellence.
Support the evaluation and selection of control hardware and software solutions based on project-specific requirements.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives that enhance system reliability, efficiency, and operator usability.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering, or a related automation discipline.
8+ years of industry experience specifically in building automation, industrial controls, or SCADA systems.
Expertise in Niagara 4 (N4) and deep familiarity with open communication protocols such as BACnet/IP and Modbus TCP/RTU.
Proven track record of delivering controls projects for large-scale, high-reliability facilities including data centers, laboratories, or advanced manufacturing sites.
Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD for the production of control diagrams, riser drawings, and floor plans.
Strong understanding of nuclear facility requirements and the impact of automation on safety and regulatory compliance.
Ability to work effectively in a mission-critical environment where reliability and precision are paramount.
Nice to have
Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or relevant industry certifications such as CEM or Niagara AX/N4 Certification.
Experience with high-level programming or scripting using Python, C#, or JavaScript for data engineering and custom API integrations.
Interest in AI tools for design and visual programming applications.
Familiarity with BIM modeling software, including Revit and AutoCAD.
Background in "Smart Building" technologies, including IoT sensor integration, cloud-based monitoring, and MQTT protocols.
Familiarity with Uptime Institute standards or similar high-availability requirements for mission-critical infrastructure.
Resourceful, entrepreneurial approach to solving integration challenges in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary engineering environment.
Practical notes
This is a full-time position based in Los Angeles, California.
Travel may be required for project duties and commissioning activities.
