Key facts

What you'll do

• Design and implement scalable and high-performance Java applications that meet business requirements and adhere to industry best practices.
• Collaborate with product managers and other stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, ensuring that the software solutions align with business objectives.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge with team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and performance issues, ensuring optimal application functionality and user experience.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for software design, architecture, and user guides to facilitate knowledge transfer and onboarding.
• Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, evaluating their potential application within the organization.
• Mentor junior developers, providing guidance and support to help them grow their technical skills and advance their careers.
• Work closely with QA teams to define testing strategies and ensure thorough testing of applications before deployment.
• Contribute to the development of deployment strategies and participate in the release management process to ensure smooth software rollouts.
• Engage in Agile methodologies, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to enhance team collaboration and productivity.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline CI/CD processes, ensuring efficient and reliable software delivery.
• Analyze system performance metrics and implement optimizations to improve application responsiveness and resource utilization.

Requirements

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in Java development, with a strong understanding of Java frameworks such as Spring and Hibernate.
• Proficiency in building RESTful APIs and microservices architecture, with experience in integrating third-party services and APIs.
• Solid understanding of database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL databases, and experience with ORM tools.
• Familiarity with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, enabling effective collaboration with front-end developers.
• Experience with version control systems, particularly Git, and familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, and knowledge of cloud-native application development.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes.
• Understanding of financial services or trading systems, providing context for the applications being developed.
• Previous experience in a mentoring or leadership role, contributing to team development and knowledge sharing.
