About the role
This position is embedded within the operations function that keeps the pulsed-power business running with precision and reliability. You will own the execution of radiation protection and contamination control procedures during high-energy experiments. The role requires you to manage access, document every action, and uphold safety standards without exception. You will work closely with engineers and technicians to ensure that pulsed-power tests proceed safely and meet all regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities include maintaining rigorous traceability through systematic data entry and record-keeping. You will define and manage radiation boundaries to protect both personnel and sensitive equipment. This position is critical for the safe operation and continuous improvement of the facility's safety controls.

What you'll do
Systematically enter data to preserve traceability and satisfy regulatory compliance for all testing activities. Define and control radiation boundaries to shield staff and equipment during pulsed-power experiments. Establish controlled access zones based on real-time radiation measurements and specific project requirements. Produce documentation that guides operational decisions and shapes long-term safety strategy for the facility. Achieve certification that confirms your qualification to manage contamination controls and safety procedures. Apply strict radiation protection standards and safety processes when setting boundaries, delivering briefings, and enforcing procedural controls. Adhere to safety processes to remain compliant and to protect individuals working in high-voltage environments. Select and use advanced personal protection equipment to manage decontamination for contaminated and potentially activated materials. Carefully choose protective clothing and tools to reduce contamination spread and minimize exposure risks. Demonstrate proficiency with survey meters, neutron rem counters, thermoluminescent dosimeters, activation foils, friskers, portable gamma spectroscopy, and electronic personal dosimeters. Ensure instrument proficiency to guarantee accurate measurement and timely detection of hazards. Document results and decisions in clear, concise records to support dose and contour modeling for RWP and ALARA planning. Enable informed reviews and continuous improvement of safety controls through thorough written records. Continuously improve documentation practices to support reliable dose modeling and regulatory acceptance.
Requirements
The posting states a bachelor's degree requirement. You must bring three to seven or more years of experience with radiation generating devices, including reactors, accelerators, and pulsed-power systems.
