About the role
FourKites is currently seeking an Intern to join the Community & Documentation team at their Chennai office. This role plays a vital part in creating and maintaining the documentation resources that help users, developers, and partners understand the company's logistics platform and real-time tracking services. The intern will work closely with the community team to improve content quality, ensure accuracy across all materials, and contribute to a growing knowledge base that serves both internal stakeholders and external audiences. This is a hands-on position ideal for a student who is interested in technical writing, community engagement, and the logistics technology industry, and who wants to gain practical experience in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. The intern will have the opportunity to learn from experienced writers and contribute meaningfully to the company's content strategy. Key facts
What you'll do
- Assist in writing and editing comprehensive documentation for both internal teams and external audiences
- Help maintain and regularly update knowledge base articles, user guides, and reference materials
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to gather accurate technical details for documentation
- Support community outreach efforts by creating written content and helpful resources for users
- Review all existing documentation carefully to ensure accuracy, consistency, and clarity throughout
- Create detailed step-by-step guides and tutorials that explain platform features and workflows
- Organize and categorize documentation assets in a structured way for easy retrieval
- Participate in community forums and help address user questions through clear written responses
- Track documentation usage metrics and suggest meaningful improvements to content structure and format
- Coordinate with team members to ensure all documentation stays aligned with product updates
- Contribute to the development of documentation templates and style guidelines for consistency
- Help migrate and restructure legacy documentation into the current platform and format
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program at an accredited institution
- Strong written communication skills in English with the ability to write clearly and concisely
- Demonstrated attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple writing tasks simultaneously
- Basic understanding of technical documentation principles and best practices for content organization
- Ability to work independently and consistently meet established deadlines without direct supervision
- Familiarity with logistics or supply chain concepts is helpful but not required
- Comfortable learning new software tools and adapting to different documentation platforms quickly
- Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with version control systems such as Git is a plus
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including engineers, product managers, and designers
Nice to have
- Previous experience with technical writing, content creation, or documentation projects in any domain
- Exposure to API documentation or developer-facing content and technical reference materials
- Genuine interest in logistics technology, real-time tracking platforms, and supply chain innovation
- Basic knowledge of Markdown, static site generators, or documentation frameworks like GitBook or Docusaurus
- Familiarity with community management tools or platforms for user engagement and support
Skills & tools
- Proficiency in written English with a clear, concise, and accessible writing style
- Experience with documentation platforms, wikis, or content management systems
- Understanding of content organization, information architecture, and user-centered content design
- Familiarity with version control concepts and collaborative editing workflows
- Ability to use project management and team collaboration tools effectively
- Basic HTML or formatting skills for creating and publishing web-based content
- Comfort with learning new tools and adapting to evolving documentation standards

- This is an in-person internship position based in Chennai, India, at the FourKites office
