Key facts
What you'll do
- Lead the development and maintenance of integrations with academic and health system partners.
- Build, manage, and enhance the infrastructure supporting Academics Integrations, focusing on both structured and unstructured data sources.
- Collaborate with colleagues across our offices in the UK, Germany, and Japan, as well as engage with oncologists, clinicians, product leaders, quantitative scientists, and customers to identify challenges and technological solutions.
- Provide technical direction by shaping roadmaps and guiding technology development.
- Contribute to the scaling strategy for partnerships with Academics and Health Systems.
- Create innovative solutions for both technical and business challenges.
- Iterate rapidly on products while adhering to engineering practices that prioritize quality and security.
- Enhance developer experience and operational excellence by establishing and maintaining rigorous operational and observability frameworks for high-throughput pipelines.
- Advocate for technical excellence and effective infrastructure design with team members and clients.
- Work with complex data pipelines utilizing various data processing tools.
- Develop or apply a thorough understanding of healthcare in the US, including data sources, security requirements, and emerging trends.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of relevant professional experience in software engineering.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in computer science or a related discipline.
- Experience leading a small technical team and scaling ambitious project roadmaps.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment and creatively address challenges.
- Strong customer empathy and a keen sense of value.
- Proficiency in agile development environments and programming languages such as Python, C++, SQL, Java, and R, with a willingness to learn new languages as necessary.
- Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, data warehousing solutions such as Snowflake, and ETL frameworks like DBT and Databricks.
- Preference for using reliable technology and applying the most suitable tools for tasks.
- Comfortable communicating technical concepts to a non-technical but sophisticated audience.
- Willingness to engage with customers to design scalable collaboration models across industries.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and a commitment to continuous learning and teaching.
Nice to have
- Experience in hospitals or Academic Medical Centers in the US.
- Background in machine learning, data engineering, infrastructure, DevOps, or security engineering.
- 1-2 years of experience in managing engineers or a desire to take on management responsibilities.
- Experience developing integrations with external stakeholders and data sources.
- Familiarity with data engineering tools such as Databricks, DBT, and Prefect.
- Experience in the health data sector and collaboration with scientific stakeholders like biostatisticians, clinicians, and researchers.
