Software Engineer - Digital Trust
Job description
About the role
You will own the design and implementation of secure, scalable backend services that power real-time fraud prevention for global financial institutions. You will collaborate closely with data scientists to translate machine learning models into robust, production-grade services that meet strict latency and reliability targets. You will take full ownership of the development lifecycle, from initial requirements and architecture through coding, testing, deployment, and continuous operation in a highly available environment. You will contribute to a culture of engineering excellence by challenging assumptions, improving processes, and mentoring peers on best practices. You will participate in on-call rotations to ensure 24/7 platform stability and take end-to-end responsibility for the services you build. You will work with event-driven architectures to process billions of transactions while maintaining ultra-low latency and high throughput. You will help define and drive technical standards that ensure the reliability, security, and scalability of our Digital Trust solutions.
Key facts
What you'll do
Design and develop distributed backend services using event-driven architectures to support real-time fraud detection and digital identity assurance.
Implement low-latency APIs and backend applications that handle high-throughput transaction processing while meeting strict performance requirements.
Retrieve, process, and transform data in near real-time to support machine learning models and fraud decisioning logic.
Design, operate, and optimize databases spanning relational, NoSQL, and graph technologies to meet diverse data requirements.
Contribute to software development best practices, guidelines, and standards to ensure consistency and quality across the engineering organization.
Participate in on-call rotation for mission-critical platforms, taking end-to-end ownership to resolve incidents and ensure continuous availability.
Collaborate with product management and data science teams to translate business and model requirements into scalable technical solutions.
Lead or contribute to initiatives that improve system performance, resilience, and observability in production environments.
Validate and develop new data science techniques and algorithms in collaboration with data scientists to improve fraud detection accuracy.
Support production clients by diagnosing and resolving technical issues while maintaining a focus on resilience and service quality.
Drive technical investigations and proof-of-concept work for emerging technologies that can enhance our fraud prevention capabilities.
Ensure that all implemented solutions comply with security and operational standards required for financial services workloads.
Requirements
BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science or a similar technical degree.
Possess a critical mindset and demonstrate autonomy in problem-solving and decision-making.
Bring 2 or more years of experience in developing and delivering advanced software applications.
Show experience in designing and operating large production systems that require high availability and scalability.
You will be responsible for providing support and improvements to production clients, with a focus on improving product quality and resilience.
We value experience in Java as a primary programming language for building backend services.
Multi-threading programming skills are essential for developing high-performance, concurrent systems.
A strong understanding of object-oriented design principles and patterns is required to build maintainable and scalable software.
You should have experience building services that demand high performance and low latency, supporting thousands of users or high throughput transaction processing.
Good technical English communication skills are required for collaboration with global teams and clear documentation.
Nice to have
Knowledge of Zookeeper, Kafka, Docker, and Kubernetes is a plus, as these technologies are used in our infrastructure.
Some experience with Python and Django is also valued for certain automation and integration tasks.
