About the role
You will break down complex and ambiguous strategic problems into actionable insights that directly influence high-stakes business decisions. You will lead large cross-functional strategic initiatives end to end, partnering with Product, Sales, Operations, Marketing, and Finance to move core company metrics. You will own the most important metrics for the business by developing deep intuition around their trends and surfacing the most salient strategic insights. You will provide thought partnership to cross-functional teammates to ensure the organization is using data thoughtfully, correctly, and with integrity. You will identify opportunities, develop hypotheses, and execute in-depth analyses to generate recommendations for Faire's leadership team. You will develop effective and scalable operational processes while filling existing gaps to improve efficiency and clarity. You will level up the Strategy & Analytics team through new processes, training, coaching, and knowledge sharing.

What you'll do
- Break down complex and ambiguous strategic problems to uncover actionable insights and define clear paths forward.
- Lead large cross-functional strategic initiatives that align with company priorities and move key business metrics in partnership with Product, Sales, Finance, Operations, and Marketing.
- Identify opportunity areas, develop data-backed hypotheses, execute in-depth analyses, and make recommendations to the leadership team based on findings and strategic context.
- Own the most important metrics for the business by maintaining deep intuition on how they are trending and diagnosing drivers of change.
- Surface the most salient strategic insights to leadership and stakeholders to inform decision-making and prioritization.
- Provide thought partnership to cross-functional teammates to ensure the organization is using data thoughtfully, correctly, and in alignment with business goals.
- Develop, implement, and improve effective and scalable operational processes while filling operational gaps that hinder clarity or efficiency.
- Leverage SQL and Excel to analyze large datasets, build reports, and create dashboards that drive understanding and action.
- Communicate crisply and persuasively, translating complex analytical findings into clear narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Continuously level up the Strategy & Analytics function through process improvements, training, coaching, and documentation for the team.
- Partner closely with Finance to ensure modeling accuracy, cost understanding, and alignment with business performance.
- Collaborate with Sales and Operations to translate go-to-market strategy into measurable experiments and outcomes.
- Work closely with Marketing to assess channel performance, customer acquisition strategies, and lifetime value implications.
- Support ad-hoc analyses and strategic questions that arise at the intersection of product, growth, and operations.
- Maintain a high standard of rigor, curiosity, and ownership in all analytical work and decision support.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in an analytical and strategic role across analytics, consulting, product, business operations, or finance.
- You are a strategic problem solver who can break down ambiguous problems and apply a first principles approach to solving them.
- You are highly analytical and metrics-focused, able to execute on complex analyses, define KPIs, size opportunity areas, and measure and report on performance across the business.
- You are a strong communicator who can crisply communicate actionable data-driven insights to all audiences.
- You have strong product and business intuition, with the ability to contextualize how insights fit into broader business goals.
- You have a solid analytical foundation and are proficient in using SQL or Excel to analyze large datasets with strong analytical rigor.
- You are scrappy and resourceful, finding ways to make things happen even when constraints exist.
- You are an extraordinarily fast learner with the natural curiosity and intellectual horsepower to deeply understand new topics and pick up new skills quickly.
- You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and data-driven environment.
- You are able to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
- You have strong judgment and discretion when handling sensitive or strategic information.
- You are comfortable collaborating with and influencing leaders at all levels across the organization.

Nice to have
- Experience working directly with or supporting retail, wholesale, or marketplace business models.
- Prior experience in a consulting or strategy role where you managed client engagements and deliverables.
- Experience building and maintaining dashboards or reporting frameworks in BI tools.
- Familiarity with machine learning concepts and how models can influence business outcomes.
- Background in local commerce, marketplaces, or community-driven platforms.
- Experience managing experiments and evaluating impact through A/B testing or quasi-experimental methods.
- Experience mentoring or guiding junior analysts and contributing to team development.

This is a full-time role located in New York City, New York or San Francisco, California. The position is eligible for equity and benefits. The compensation range provided is subject to change and may be modified based on location, experience, and other factors.
