SoC Platform Engineer
Job description
SoC Platform Engineer
About the Role
E-Space is seeking a SoC Platform Engineer to lead critical work in hardware and software integration for our next-generation satellite platform. In this position, you will own the end-to-end realization of our custom System on a Chip (SoC), managing the flow from initial IP integration to full system validation. Your responsibilities will center on creating the verification infrastructure and firmware that ensure the silicon meets its demanding specifications for space operations. You will define testbenches, write targeted test firmware, and guide the team through rigorous bring-up and feature implementation. This role requires hands-on leadership in coordinating hardware and software activities to deliver a validated, production-ready platform.
The position is central to our mission of making connectivity from space universally accessible, secure, and actionable. You will be instrumental in shaping the platform that powers our hyper-scaled IoT deployments. Your work will directly influence the design, economics, and service delivery of our satellite communication systems. We expect you to be intensely curious, deeply committed to innovation, and focused on delivering actionable intelligence that protects our planet and enhances global economies.
Key Responsibilities
Your daily work will involve orchestrating the intake of Register Transfer Level (RTL) code and technical specifications to align all verification objectives. You will be responsible for constructing comprehensive system-level testbenches that enable concurrent hardware and firmware co-development. This includes reviewing design documents and coverage reports to continuously refine and improve our validation strategy.
You will own the process of shipping validation milestones that prove SoC features meet contractual specifications and performance targets. A core part of your role will be partnering closely with architecture teams to prototype new features and integrate secure boot flows into the platform. You will coordinate firmware interfaces to ensure low-level drivers pass integration tests and function reliably in the space environment.
A significant portion of your effort will be directed toward guiding the bring-up of new IP blocks. This involves creating directed tests and conducting error injection scenarios to validate robustness. To maintain quality and traceability, you will maintain the regression infrastructure that supports nightly builds and provides clear, actionable results for the entire development team.
Required Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must have three to five years of professional experience designing verification environments for complex hardware systems. A strong foundation in SystemVerilog and the Universal Verification Methodology (UVM) is required for building reusable and scalable testbench components.
You must possess proven proficiency in firmware development for embedded platforms, as you will work directly with low-level code. A strong grasp of SoC protocols and register model interface standards, such as those used in AMBA-based designs, is essential. also, you need a thorough understanding of secure communication mechanisms and storage encryption, which are vital for satellite applications.
Preferred Qualifications and Skills
Experience with Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite payloads or space-qualified electronics is preferred and highly relevant to our mission. You will thrive in an environment where intellectual curiosity and a commitment to innovation are paramount.
You will utilize a core set of tools and skills in your daily work. These include Verilog, SystemVerilog, and the Universal Verification Methodology (UVM). Experience with SystemC and Transaction Level Modeling (TLM) is valuable. On the firmware side, you will work with C and Python, utilizing version control via Git and continuous integration systems such as Jenkins.
Practical Information
The location for this role is Saratoga, California. The engagement is full-time, and the compensation package is in the range of 160,000 USD to 190,000 USD.
Please We are eager to review your application and explore how your expertise can help us deliver connectivity from space that is universally accessible, secure, and actionable.
