About the Role
Epirus is a high-growth technology company dedicated to overcoming the asymmetric challenges inherent to the future of national security. Our flagship product, Leonidas, is a software-defined system built using intelligent power management techniques which allow power-hungry systems to do more with less. We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team in Torrance, California. This is a full-time position. The role is critical to translating cutting-edge defense concepts into robust, deployable hardware solutions.
What You'll Do
You will own the end-to-end realization of manufacturing and production systems that enable high performance under constrained operational environments. Your primary responsibility will be to standardize engineering change control and new product introduction processes to ensure seamless progression from design release to full-scale manufacturability. You will partner directly with electrical and mechanical engineering teams to evaluate design requirements and rigorously assess producibility, thinking creatively to resolve and challenge conflicting requirements. A key focus will be evaluating and implementing software automation solutions for test stations, collaborating closely with test and systems engineering teams to improve coverage and repeatability. You will validate production processes, assess risk through formal analysis techniques, and drive improvements in yield and reliability to support production readiness. Ensuring strict compliance with defense and quality standards such as AS9100, ISO 9001, and ITAR will be a core duty, achieved by leading audits, maintaining documentation, and driving corrective and preventive actions. You will lead factory layout improvement initiatives focused on optimizing manufacturability and defining future requirements for production efficiency. This includes coordinating closely with cross-functional stakeholders to translate program objectives into detailed manufacturing and quality strategies. You will also mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence across the organization.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you must be a United States citizen to meet the requirements for handling sensitive defense-related technologies and access to controlled information. You must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline as a foundational basis for your responsibilities in manufacturing and quality systems. You must demonstrate prior experience in a manufacturing, production, or industrial engineering role within a regulated environment such as defense, aerospace, or similar high-reliability sectors. A proven track record of working with standards and frameworks like AS9100, ISO 9001, and ITAR is required to ensure compliance and audit readiness. You must be capable of reading and interpreting engineering drawings, schematics, and specifications to evaluate design feasibility and manufacturability. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential to effectively coordinate with technical and non-technical stakeholders at all levels of the organization. Proficiency in the use of productivity and engineering tools such as CAD, document control systems, and statistical analysis packages is necessary to perform your duties accurately and efficiently. You must be able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearances and meet all eligibility requirements for access to classified programs and facilities.
