GTM Forward Deployed Engineer
Job description
About the role
You will partner directly with the Chief Commercial Officer and the sales team to drive the motion from initial client conversation to a signed statement of work. In this role, you own the pre-sales motion and ensure it is repeatable, high quality, and capable of producing excellent statements of work consistently. You translate business goals into concrete technical architectures while holding a clear, well-reasoned point of view on model selection and trade-offs. You are deeply fluent in modern AI architecture and use that fluency to prove concepts and win high-value opportunities. As an early senior hire, you define how Eliza shapes, scopes, and wins deals so that the process lives in repeatable playbooks rather than in any single person's head. You build defensible proofs of concept and author compelling, protective statements of work that set clear expectations for clients and the company.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Partner with Sales to Win Valuable Deals by running a best-in-class pre-sales motion that wins valuable deals and sets clients up for high ROI.
- Qualify opportunities early with a clear point of view on fit, feasibility, and value so the team invests time only where it counts.
- Bring technical credibility into the room at the right moments, turning client interest into conviction through concrete insight.
- Translate business goals into technical architectures, orchestration frameworks, and specific data access methods that are both ambitious and deliverable.
- Hold a firm, well-reasoned point of view on the right model for the right job and clearly articulate the trade-offs behind each architectural choice.
- Define the scope, phases, and overall shape of an engagement in a way that balances ambition with realistic delivery constraints.
- Apply strong fluency across LLMs, databases, orchestration tools, and cloud APIs to design solutions that hold up to technical scrutiny.
- Build and deliver defensible proofs of concept that prove value and help the team win high-value deals while serving as the bridge between commercial conversation and credible delivery.
- Author clear, compelling statements of work that set the right expectations and protect both the client and Eliza.
- Work alongside delivery leads to build credible estimates for effort, timeline, and pricing that are grounded in reality and client value.
- Raise the bar on what an excellent statement of work looks like and make that standard repeatable across the commercial function.
- Work side by side with the CCO to codify the Eliza way into templates, playbooks, and a process the team can run consistently.
- Identify where the path from opportunity to statement of work slows down or varies, then fix the bottlenecks to accelerate deal flow.
- Help the commercial function scale without losing the quality and distinctiveness that sets Eliza apart.
- Demonstrate hands-on ability to build and deliver proofs of concept rather than only describing them, proving technical viability under real-world constraints.
Requirements
- A strong communicator who can hold both the client's perspective and Eliza's commercial interests at once, ensuring alignment on value and feasibility.
- Deep fluency across LLMs, databases, orchestration tools, and cloud APIs, with a firm point of view on the right model for the right job and the trade-offs involved.
- Hands-on ability to build and deliver defensible proofs of concept, not just describe them, demonstrating real capability through working artifacts.
- A natural partner to sales, focused on a winning motion and real client ROI through thoughtful scoping and credible solution design.
- Comfort with ambiguity and the pace of an early-stage company, thriving in environments where priorities evolve quickly.
- The ability to translate ambiguous business goals into concrete technical architectures, orchestration patterns, and data strategies without sacrificing clarity.
- Experience authoring clear, defensible statements of work and building estimates for effort, timeline, and pricing that stand up to scrutiny.
- A commitment to raising the standard of how Eliza wins and scopes work so that excellence becomes repeatable rather than person-dependent.
Preferred
- Prior experience in pre-sales, solutions engineering, or forward deployed roles at a consulting or AI services firm where you have shaped deal motion and solution design.
- Experience authoring statements of work and building estimates for effort, timeline, and pricing in a professional services or AI services context.
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation.
- Equity options in a growing AI services company.
- Flexibility to work across industries and problem domains.
- A collaborative, mission-driven team passionate about the real-world impact of AI.
