This Behavioral Specialist I role within the Adult Community Clinical Service (ACCS) team is centered on delivering person-centered, evidence-based interventions to adults with severe and persistent mental illness. You will join a multidisciplinary environment in Wakefield and contribute directly to rehabilitation, safety, and long-term resilience in community or residential settings.

What you'll do

• Provide interventions to clients that focus on problem solving, modeling behavior, optimism, and encouragement.
• Assist the team in providing ongoing assessments of client symptoms and their responses to staff interventions over time.
• Support clients in their desire for recovery and rehabilitation in the development of their goals.
• Ensure that services provided are culturally competent, strengths based, and focused on rehabilitation and are inclusive of client preferences.
• Provide assistance to clients related to transportation to work sites, daily activities, and appointments.
• Document client progress and interactions in a manner that supports continuity of care and team communication.
• Implement strategies that promote safety, stability, and independence within the community and residential environments.
• Collaborate with colleagues to coordinate care plans and adjust approaches based on client feedback and outcomes.
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies, ethical standards, and clinical best practices in every interaction.
• Act as a reliable point of contact for clients during scheduled hours, including evenings and weekends as required by the schedule.
• Engage in ongoing learning opportunities to strengthen skills and knowledge relevant to behavioral health services.
• Contribute to a positive team dynamic by participating in meetings, supervision, and peer debriefings.
• Promote an inclusive atmosphere where clients from diverse backgrounds feel seen, heard, and respected.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field.
• Experience working with adults with mental illness.
• Valid Massachusetts drivers license.
• Availability to work scheduled hours, including Sunday from 9am to 9pm and Saturday from 9am to 9pm (24 hours).
• Ability to engage in person-centered practice and apply evidence-based interventions in dynamic situations.
• Professionalism, reliability, and a compassionate demeanor when working with vulnerable populations.
• Commitment to upholding ethical guidelines and organizational policies that promote safety, confidentiality, and respect.

About the location and schedule

The position is based in Wakefield and operates on a full-time basis. The schedule requires availability on weekends and evenings, specifically Sunday from 9am to 9pm and Saturday from 9am to 9pm, ensuring 24-hour coverage for client support. The hourly compensation is $20.50 USD.
