What you'll do
- Design and implement virtualization solutions using industry-leading technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM to optimize resource utilization and performance.
- Manage and maintain virtualized environments, ensuring high availability and reliability of services for clients.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess virtualization requirements and develop tailored solutions that meet specific business needs.
- Monitor system performance and troubleshoot issues in virtualized environments, applying best practices to enhance efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Develop and maintain documentation related to virtualization architecture, processes, and procedures to ensure compliance and facilitate knowledge sharing.
- Conduct regular system audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes to enhance security and performance.
- Provide technical support and guidance to clients and internal teams on virtualization technologies, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and advancements in virtualization technologies, evaluating their potential impact on the organization and clients.
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution, ensuring that virtualized systems are resilient and can be restored quickly in the event of a failure.
- Assist in the development and execution of training programs for staff and clients on virtualization best practices and tools.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to evaluate and integrate new virtualization solutions and tools into existing environments.
- Engage in project management activities, ensuring that virtualization projects are delivered on time and within budget.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in virtualization technologies, with a strong focus on VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM.
- Proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing virtualized environments in a production setting.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP.
- Familiarity with scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Bash for automation tasks.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience with monitoring and management tools for virtualized environments, such as vSphere, System Center, or similar platforms.
Nice to have
- Relevant certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or similar.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
- Familiarity with security best practices in virtualized environments.
- Experience in a client-facing role, providing technical support and guidance.
