What you'll do

Design, implement, and maintain network configurations to ensure efficient data flow and connectivity across various systems.
Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime and enhance user experience.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess network requirements and develop solutions that meet organizational needs.
Conduct regular network assessments and audits to identify vulnerabilities and implement necessary security measures.
Document network configurations, processes, and changes to maintain accurate records for future reference.
Assist in the deployment of new network technologies and upgrades, ensuring seamless integration with existing systems.
Provide technical support and guidance to team members and end-users regarding network-related issues.
Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to recommend improvements and innovations in network infrastructure.
Participate in disaster recovery planning and execution to ensure business continuity in case of network failures.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
A minimum of 2 years of experience in network engineering or a related role.
Proficiency in network protocols such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.
Familiarity with routing and switching technologies, including Cisco and Juniper equipment.
Experience with network monitoring tools and software for performance analysis.
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex network issues.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices to ensure network integrity.
Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are preferred.

Nice to have

Experience with cloud networking solutions and services, such as AWS or Azure.
Familiarity with network automation tools and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible).
Understanding of VoIP technologies and their integration into network systems.
Previous experience in a government or defense contracting environment is a plus.
Knowledge of ITIL or other IT service management frameworks.

Skills & tools

The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in network engineering principles and practices. Proficiency in using network management tools, such as Wireshark, SolarWinds, or PRTG, is essential. Familiarity with firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and other security appliances will be beneficial. The ability to work with both hardware and software components of network systems is crucial for success in this role.
