In this position, you will oversee the Social Engineering team at DoubleVerify, focusing on developing innovative features and building integrations with major social media platforms to evaluate advertising performance effectively. Your leadership will be crucial in guiding the technical direction of projects that support social media advertising verification. You will be responsible for making strategic decisions that enhance the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of systems handling billions of transactions daily. Working closely with engineers from leading internet companies on API projects, you will ensure that the social product integrations meet both technical and business objectives. This role requires a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and strategic thinking to drive the success of DoubleVerify's social media verification solutions.

What you'll do
- Lead and manage a team of talented engineers responsible for developing and maintaining large-scale distributed services that support DoubleVerify's Social products.
- Oversee the end-to-end delivery of complex projects, including building APIs, data pipelines, and integrations that provide measurable business value.
- Drive initiatives to expand and improve integrations with social media platforms, ensuring seamless data flow and system interoperability.
- Establish and refine engineering processes, workflows, and best practices to support team growth, productivity, and quality standards.
- Make architectural decisions that align with product requirements, scalability needs, and security standards, ensuring systems are robust and maintainable.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, data scientists, and other engineering groups, to deliver integrated solutions.
- Mentor and develop engineers within the team, fostering a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and technical excellence.
- Engage with external social media platform teams to coordinate API updates, troubleshoot issues, and implement new features.
- Manage production environments, monitor system health, troubleshoot operational issues, and implement solutions to prevent future problems.
- Communicate technical concepts clearly to non-technical stakeholders, translating complex ideas into understandable strategies and plans.
- Participate in strategic planning sessions, providing technical insights and recommendations to executive management.
- Recruit, interview, and onboard new engineers and team leaders to strengthen the Social Integrations team.
- Support the implementation of CI/CD pipelines, automation, and DevOps practices to streamline development and deployment processes.
- Contribute to the evolution of the Big Data ecosystem, evaluating new technologies, frameworks, and tools to improve system performance and scalability.
- Ensure compliance with data privacy, security standards, and regulations relevant to social media and advertising data.
- Lead efforts to optimize data pipelines, improve data quality, and ensure timely delivery of analytics and reporting.
- Foster a collaborative team environment that encourages innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in distributed systems, social media APIs, and advertising verification.
Requirements
- Demonstrated leadership experience in designing, developing, and delivering high-quality, scalable software solutions.
- Strong interest and background in building mission-critical, data-intensive distributed systems.
- Extensive experience in architecting complex software systems, following best practices for maintainability, performance, and security.
- Deep knowledge of distributed system technologies, protocols, and frameworks.
- Proven ability to automate workflows, decision-making processes, and operational tasks.
- Familiarity with modern software development lifecycle practices, including Agile methodologies.
- Proficiency in SQL and data analysis tools, with a strong understanding of data pipelines and data management.
- Over 9 years of programming experience, particularly in Python, with a track record of building scalable solutions.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience working with big data systems such as BigQuery and Airflow, including designing and building scalable data pipelines.
- Minimum of 3 years in leadership roles managing engineering teams, mentoring engineers, and overseeing project delivery.
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including build servers, Docker, and Kubernetes, to support continuous deployment and infrastructure management.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external partners.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Over 1 year of experience working in online advertising technology is preferred, providing context for social media integrations and ad verification.
- Familiarity with dbt and BigQuery is a plus, supporting data transformation and analytics efforts.

- Prior experience working directly with social media platform APIs and integrations, understanding their unique challenges and requirements.
- Knowledge of data privacy, security standards, and compliance regulations relevant to social media and advertising data, including GDPR and CCPA.

- Understanding of ITAR regulations and compliance issues related to data handling and international data transfer.

- The salary range for this position is approximately $131,000 to $260,000, depending on experience, skills, and qualifications.
