UX Design Engineer, Content Tooling
Job description
USA
This page outlines the opportunity for a UX Design Engineer focused on Content Tooling at DoorDash. The role is centered on building and maintaining the platforms, tools, and systems that enable the creation, management, and delivery of product content. You will operate at the intersection of design and engineering, developing solutions for DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo. The goal is to empower product designers and content creators by providing them with tools that accelerate content delivery and improve quality across a multi-brand, three-sided marketplace.
About the Team
The team operates within the global Content Design organization, which is responsible for shaping how users interact with products across DoorDash, Wolt, and Deliveroo. The work involves close collaboration with consumers, Dashers, and Merchants. The Design organization builds the language and narrative that makes the marketplace more accessible and efficient. This role specifically supports that mission by creating the infrastructure that allows clear and consistent content to be deployed rapidly.
About the Role
You will be responsible for architecting and shipping the internal platforms that manage the lifecycle of product content. This involves taking requirements from various teams and turning them into robust, scalable systems. You will build tools that handle content intake, authoring, localization, experimentation, and deployment. The role requires a strong partnership with design and content teams to ensure the tools meet their needs. You will focus on reducing manual effort and enabling faster iteration cycles for content updates.
Key Facts
The position is based in San Francisco, California; Sunnyvale, California; Seattle, Washington; or New York, New York. It is a full-time engagement. The listed compensation for the role is $161,200.00 per year. These details are confirmed on the official application page.
What You'll Do
You will design and build intake systems that collect content requirements from multiple stakeholders and teams. Your work will involve constructing services using React and Kotlin to handle content creation, localization, and the management of variants. You will play a key role in validating content through analysis and scrutiny before it reaches users. Launching features will involve setting up A/B tests to expose different content variants to users. You will work directly with content designers, AI infrastructure teams, and localization experts across three major global brands. A core part of the job is automating the pipeline that moves winning content variants from testing into production deployment. You will also be responsible for maintaining the quality and reliability of the codebase under production conditions. Measuring the success of these efforts through metrics like cycle time and adoption rate is an expected part of the role.
Requirements
Applicants should have between five and eight years of experience building complex internal tools or platforms. Demonstrated expertise in frontend development is required, specifically with React, TypeScript, and modern component libraries. You must have a strong background in backend engineering with Kotlin or Java. Experience integrating with A/B testing platforms, feature flag systems, and CI/CD pipelines is essential. The ideal candidate can translate abstract workflows from designers and content strategists into concrete, scalable products. You must be comfortable working in environments with many dependencies and stakeholders. A systems-oriented mindset is necessary to design for multiple products and brands at once.
Nice to Have
Experience building custom GPTs or integrating other LLM-driven workflows into product tooling is considered a valuable asset for this position.
Skills & Tools
