About the role
We are seeking experienced backend engineers to join our product and platform teams to manage our global logistics infrastructure. You will handle complex technical challenges at scale, mentor peers, and drive the architectural direction of our marketplace systems. In this capacity, you will own the design and execution of critical backend services that power our marketplace operations across diverse geographic regions. You will be responsible for translating high-level business objectives into robust, scalable technical solutions while maintaining a strong focus on system integrity and performance. Your work will directly influence the reliability and security of our core platforms that serve millions of users daily. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional partners to ensure that technical strategies align with evolving business needs. This role requires a proactive mindset to identify potential risks and opportunities within our backend landscape. You will act as a technical leader, guiding discussions and making impactful decisions that shape the future of our infrastructure.

What you'll do
- Architect and maintain large-scale web applications designed for a 24/7 global environment that demands high availability.
- Define and lead the backend architecture and technical roadmap for specific product areas, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Drive initiatives to enhance the security, performance, and reliability of our backend systems through proactive optimization and monitoring.
- Spearhead the migration strategy from a monolithic codebase to a microservice-based architecture, managing complexity and risk.
- Analyze and solve intricate logistics problems through high-level technical execution and innovative solution design.
- Utilize advanced proficiency with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex throughout the development lifecycle to boost productivity.
- Evaluate and implement solutions using SQL, Postgres, Redis, Elasticsearch, and RabbitMQ to manage data and communication effectively.
- Design and maintain robust REST APIs and service-oriented interfaces that facilitate seamless communication between microservices.
- Lead technical discussions and code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices in unit testing and software quality.
- Optimize system stability and scalability through careful architectural decisions and performance tuning.
- Collaborate with data experts to design solutions that leverage SQL and NoSQL databases for efficient data management.
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and technical growth.
Requirements
- Hold a B.S., M.S., or PhD in Computer Science or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Possess a minimum of 8 years of professional industry experience in software engineering or a related role.
- Demonstrate proficiency with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Claude Code, or Codex throughout the development lifecycle.
- Have a strong background in backend development, including service-oriented architecture, REST APIs, and unit testing methodologies.
- Show a proven ability to optimize system stability and scalability in large-scale distributed systems.
- Bring experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases to manage complex data models and queries.
- Exhibit expertise in HTTP protocols, RESTful design principles, and the development of microservices.
- Comply with the company's security and compliance standards in all engineering practices.

- Compensation includes base salary and equity grants. Base salary ranges: I4 ($130,600 to $192,000), I5 ($159,800 to $235,000), I6 ($193,800 to $285,000).
