You will define and deliver the technical execution strategy that enables AI to transform the daily work of healthcare professionals across intelligent scheduling, automated document processing, smart task management, and AI-assisted patient communication. You will own the design and delivery of both AI-augmented enhancements for existing workflows and net-new AI-native products that unlock entirely new value for practitioners and their patients within the European market. This role requires you to lead high-performing engineering teams with precision, fostering a culture of rigorous experimentation, production excellence, and rapid learning cycles. You will act as the primary engineering architect and thought partner, translating complex AI capabilities into reliable, scalable, and trustworthy features that directly improve care delivery. What you'll do
Lead and scale one engineering team owning the AI Practice Efficiency scope, managing teams delivering AI features across practice workflows - intelligent scheduling, automated document processing, smart task management, and AI-assisted patient communication.
Define and execute the AI product-engineering strategy in close partnership with Product, Data Science, and Design, setting the technical direction for AI Practice Efficiency - deciding when to build versus buy, how to evaluate and select foundation models, when to fine-tune, and how to architect for safety, explainability, and regulatory compliance.
Own responsible AI delivery in a regulated context, ensuring AI features are built with appropriate safeguards for a healthcare environment, covering evaluation frameworks, human-in-the-loop design, data privacy (GDPR/HDS), explainability, and bias mitigation.
Serve as the engineering voice ensuring our AI products meet the trust bar that healthcare professionals and patients require, collaborating closely with the VP of Engineering of the Domain to set the AI strategy for the domain.
Drive cross-domain AI adoption and platform thinking, collaborating with other engineering streams and the broader AI platform teams to ensure shared AI infrastructure, tooling, and evaluation frameworks both benefit from and contribute to your teams' work.
Champion AI-augmented engineering practices within your own teams as a forcing function for productivity and quality, leveraging advanced tooling to accelerate delivery while maintaining rigorous standards.
Provide hands-on technical leadership by staying close to the craft, using AI tools directly, building working prototypes to pressure-test ideas, and engaging with LLM integration, RAG architectures, fine-tuning tradeoffs, evaluation frameworks, and inference constraints.
Balance ambitious AI innovation with pragmatic, high-quality execution, making strategic bets that maximize clinical value while managing technical risk and dependencies across the product and engineering organization.
Establish clear metrics and feedback loops for AI features, enabling data-driven iteration, continuous improvement, and alignment with the broader goals of improving care team efficiency and patient outcomes.
Act as a talent multiplier, mentoring managers and senior ICs, adapting leadership approaches to context, and building an environment where engineers grow and AI craftsmanship continuously rises.
Requirements
You must have at least 12+ years of engineering experience, with significant time leading managers and senior ICs in fast-paced, high-growth technology environments - and a proven ability to run multiple teams across complex, interdependent scopes without losing clarity on outcomes.
You must have a track record of shipping AI or ML-powered features to real users at scale, with full lifecycle ownership: from problem framing and data requirements through model evaluation, integration, monitoring, and iteration.
You must stay close to the craft, using AI tools directly, building working prototypes to pressure-test ideas, and being hands-on with LLM integration, RAG architectures, fine-tuning tradeoffs, evaluation frameworks, and inference constraints - you must see prototyping as a leadership tool.
You must bring sharp product instinct for where AI creates genuine clinical value, combined with a clear framework for navigating responsible AI delivery in a regulated, high-trust healthcare context (GDPR/HDS, explainability, human oversight).
You must be an exceptional people leader, deliberately adapting your leadership approach based on context, actively mentoring other managers, and building environments where engineers grow and AI craftsmanship continuously rises.
You must be fluent in English to collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders and contribute to strategic discussions.
You must have experience defining and maintaining technical architecture for AI systems, balancing innovation with reliability, security, and compliance in a way that supports rapid iteration.
You must have strong judgment for prioritizing technical investments, balancing long-term platform thinking against immediate product needs across multiple workflows.
