Dialpad is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their team in Vancouver, Canada. What you'll do

Design and implement scalable software components that form the foundation of the cloud communications platform

Collaborate with product managers and designers to translate business requirements into clear and actionable technical specifications

Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following the established engineering standards and best practices of the team

Participate in thorough code reviews to ensure code quality, share knowledge, and help teammates grow their skills

Debug and resolve production issues in a timely and effective manner to minimize impact on end users

Mentor junior engineers and contribute meaningfully to their professional development through guidance, pairing, and knowledge sharing sessions

Architect and design solutions that address performance, reliability, and scalability concerns across the entire platform infrastructure

Participate in agile team ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives to drive continuous improvement

Evaluate and recommend new tools, frameworks, and emerging technologies when appropriate to modernize the engineering stack

Document technical designs, APIs, and system architecture decisions clearly and thoroughly so that future teams can understand them

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience gained through work

Proven experience as a software engineer with a strong focus on backend or full-stack application development

Strong proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as Python, Java, or Go with deep understanding

Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and services including AWS or Google Cloud Platform for building scalable systems

Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools such as Kubernetes for managing deployed applications

Solid understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and microservices architecture principles including patterns for resilient service design

Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment with diverse stakeholders across multiple departments

Strong problem-solving skills and consistent attention to detail while working in a fast-paced and dynamic setting

Nice to have

Experience with real-time communication protocols and WebRTC technologies for building voice and video features at scale

Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks that support continuous delivery and deployment practices

Knowledge of database systems including both SQL and NoSQL options for handling diverse data storage requirements

Previous experience in a startup or fast-paced engineering environment where priorities shift quickly and adaptability is key

Skills & tools
