What you'll do
- Collaborate with the sales organization to present the Datadog vision and strategy to potential customers.
- Manage the technical trial phase, addressing customer inquiries and resolving issues to ensure successful adoption.

- Conduct technical briefings and product demonstrations for prospective clients.
- Record detailed feedback and win-loss insights within the CRM system.
- Maintain ongoing communication with internal business and technical teams regarding product enhancements and market trends.
- Evaluate and validate architectural requirements during the pre sales process.
- Support the creation of tailored value propositions for distinct industry verticals.
- Lead proof of concept initiatives designed to validate hypotheses and accelerate procurement cycles.
- Translate customer use cases into precise configuration and integration requirements for the engineering team.
- Represent Datadog in cross functional working sessions with sales, product management, and professional services.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive understanding of the competitive landscape and positioning.
- Provide input on pricing, packaging, and commercial levers to optimize deal velocity.
- Leverage observability and security platform knowledge to address detailed technical inquiries during trials and demonstrations.
- Maintain accurate and timely CRM documentation throughout the sales cycle to track progress and inform forecasting.
- Deliver polished technical presentations and live product demonstrations that articulate clear value propositions.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot platform configurations to resolve customer issues during proof of concept engagements.
- Synthesize feedback from buying committees to refine messaging, positioning, and commercial strategy.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in a Sales Engineering or DevOps Engineering capacity.
- Proficiency in programming or scripting with one or more of the following: Java, Python, Ruby, Go, Node.JS, PHP, or .NET.
- Ability to articulate both technical advantages and business benefits to various stakeholders.
- Capacity to travel up to 45% of the time via car, train, or air to visit client sites.
- Demonstrated experience working with enterprise level buying committees and technical decision makers.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences.
- Comfort working in a fast paced, quota influenced environment where priorities shift rapidly.
- Willingness to adhere to the company code of ethics and professional conduct standards.
- Experience navigating complex procurement processes and multi year contract negotiations.
- Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and security information and event management concepts.
- Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent opportunities while maintaining meticulous documentation.
- Capability to obtain and maintain necessary work authorization in Japan.
- Willingness to utilize the Datadog platform daily as a primary tool for discovery and validation.
- Demonstrated ability to translate customer requirements into technical configuration and integration needs.
- Experience collaborating with cross functional teams including sales, product management, and professional services.
