The position of centers on initiating proactive conversations with prospective clients to drive new business opportunities. You will own the responsibility of identifying and qualifying accounts that align with our ideal customer profile through organized research and targeted outreach. This role serves as the critical bridge between marketing interest and sales conversion by ensuring only high-quality leads progress to the Account Executive stage. You are expected to maintain a disciplined outreach cadence across multiple channels to build a consistent flow of interest. Success in this position requires a commitment to understanding customer needs and positioning Customer.io as the ideal solution for their communication challenges. You will document every interaction meticulously to ensure transparency and enable data-driven decisions for the sales team. Ultimately, this role is about building relationships that convert strangers into engaged prospects and eventually into loyal customers.

What you'll do
Conduct in-depth research on target organizations to construct a prioritized list of high-potential accounts for outreach activities.
Initiate dialogues with prospects via telephone, electronic mail, and professional social networks to assess organizational needs and pain points.
Apply analytical judgment to determine if a lead meets the criteria for product fit and buying authority to advance to the next sales stage.
Coordinate and schedule introductory discussions with qualified individuals, ensuring seamless handoffs to the Account Executive team.
Input detailed notes and engagement metrics into the company's customer relationship management platform to maintain accurate pipeline records.
Collaborate with the marketing department to analyze campaign performance and refine messaging for improved lead attraction.
Nurture relationships with prospects who show tentative interest, providing information and maintaining engagement until they are ready to purchase.
Deliver regular summaries of personal performance metrics and key activities to your direct supervisor for review and coaching.
Employ strategic questioning techniques to uncover underlying business problems that Customer.io can solve.
Adapt communication styles to resonate with diverse audiences across different industries and organizational structures.
Monitor competitor activity and market trends to provide feedback on positioning and messaging effectiveness.
Utilize sales intelligence tools to discover new companies and contacts that match the ideal customer profile criteria.
Maintain a positive and professional telephone presence that reflects the core values and brand identity of Customer.io.
Demonstrate flexibility in managing a dynamic pipeline by adjusting daily tasks based on evolving sales priorities.
Requirements
You must possess strong verbal and written communication skills that enable clear and persuasive conversations with strangers.
You must demonstrate resilience and the ability to remain motivated when facing frequent rejection without losing productivity.
You must exhibit exceptional organizational abilities to track numerous prospects and tasks with a high degree of accuracy.
You must have hands-on experience utilizing customer relationship management platforms like Salesforce or HubSpot for data management.
You must have a documented history of generating leads and successfully executing outbound outreach campaigns.
You must be capable of working independently with minimal supervision while thriving in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
You must be legally authorized to work in the Americas region without sponsorship requirements for this position.
You must have a reliable internet connection and a suitable workspace to perform remote duties effectively.
You must commit to adhering to the company's code of conduct and data privacy policies during all interactions.
You must be available during standard business hours in the Americas time zones to engage with prospects and attend team meetings.
Nice to have
You have one to two years of experience in an outbound sales role within a SaaS or technology-focused organization.
You have a background in conducting outbound sales specifically within a SaaS business model.
You are familiar with established sales methodologies and structured lead generation frameworks.
You are proficient in speaking the French language, which may help in engaging certain market segments.
Practical notes
This role requires willingness to travel for team events, with an approximate frequency of one to two times per quarter.
Compensation details specify a base salary of $65,000 USD and variable compensation of $32,095 USD, resulting in an on-target earnings total of $97,095 USD.
