FP&A Director
Job description
Curri is seeking an FP&A Director to build and own the company's financial planning and analysis function from the ground up. Right now finance bandwidth is stretched, and this role adds dedicated FP&A leadership to own forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and board reporting, freeing the CFO and VP Finance to focus on strategy. You will inherit a functioning but underbuilt finance function and make it meaningfully better: faster reporting, cleaner models, and significantly less manual work, deploying modern tooling and AI to get there. You will act as the primary architect of our financial planning systems, ensuring rigor and scalability. You will translate complex financial data into clear narratives that drive executive action and alignment. This position requires a leader who thrives in building processes where none exist previously. You will be instrumental in establishing the financial discipline that supports our rapid growth. Your work will directly influence how efficiently the company allocates capital and measures success.
Location: USA
Engagement: Full-time
- Redesign Curri's financial reporting infrastructure by replacing ad-hoc models with automated, scalable systems that leverage our existing data.
- Build and maintain automated monthly and quarterly reporting workflows that drastically reduce manual effort while increasing accuracy and speed.
- Deploy advanced tools to accelerate financial analysis, scenario modeling, and narrative generation using practical AI applications.
- Establish robust performance dashboards and KPIs that scale with the business and provide leadership with real-time operational and financial insight.
- Lead and evolve Curri's core financial models, including operating forecasts, annual budgets, and multi-year long-range strategic plans in close partnership with the CFO and VP Finance.
- Build sophisticated financial models from scratch and iteratively improve existing ones, breaking down complex business problems into clean, quantifiable components.
- Conduct in-depth reviews of monthly and quarterly budget variances, partnering closely with department leads to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions.
- Support strategic corporate initiatives through detailed scenario analysis, ROI modeling, and targeted ad hoc financial research to inform high-stakes decisions.
- Lead the preparation of executive-level financial reporting and board-ready presentations, ensuring clarity, consistency, and compelling storytelling alongside the CFO.
- Translate intricate financial data into actionable insights for senior leadership and cross-functional partners across the organization.
- Contribute high-quality analysis and data support for investor interactions and board materials as the company continues to scale its operations.
- Serve as the central financial resource for strategic and analytical requests, providing timely and accurate responses to urgent business needs.
- Partner proactively with executives across Sales, Operations, and Product to support integrated planning, performance tracking, and data-driven decision-making.
- Analyze key trends, variances, and performance drivers to explain business outcomes and recommend informed next steps for improvement.
- Act as a strategic thought partner to the CFO, VP Finance, and the C-suite on initiatives aimed at improving financial visibility, methodological rigor, and execution excellence.
- Possess 5-8 years of progressive experience in FP&A, strategic finance, or a closely related analytical finance role within a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrate expert-level financial modeling skills, including the ability to build complex models from scratch and translate messy data into clean, actionable insights.
- Show strong familiarity with modern FP&A toolsets, including the advantages and limitations of various platforms and methodologies for optimal implementation.
- Provide evidence of implementing and using AI tools to genuinely accelerate financial analysis, reporting, or forecasting, focusing on shipped work rather than experimental projects.
- Exhibit a systems-builder mindset, prioritizing the design of scalable processes and automations over relying on manual effort or adding headcount as a first resort.
- Operate with a high degree of ownership, thriving independently and making sound judgments within a fast-paced, ambiguous, and rapidly evolving startup context.
- Bring prior experience working cross-functionally within a high-growth startup or other dynamic, growth-oriented organizations.
- Commit to working from our Ventura, CA headquarters, with a remote-friendly arrangement that prefers local candidates for periodic in-person collaboration.
- Adhere to all company policies regarding employment eligibility and verification as required by law without exception.
- Maintain strict compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws concerning equal opportunity and non-discrimination throughout the employment relationship.
- Demonstrated proficiency in SQL, enabling direct extraction and manipulation of data from source systems to streamline analysis.
- Prior experience within a venture-backed startup or an environment characterized by rapid scaling and high ambiguity.
- Exposure to SaaS, marketplace, or operations-heavy business models that involve complex revenue and cost structures.
- Familiarity with Curri's specific market segments, including construction materials, last-mile logistics, or industrial supply chain ecosystems.
- Current residence in Southern California with the ability to work from or near our Ventura headquarters for in-person collaboration as needed.
