About the role
Crunchyroll is in the process of launching a new entity in Mexico and is looking for an experienced Accounting Director to spearhead its financial operations. This position will be in ensuring that local accounting practices align with regulatory standards while maintaining accurate reporting. The Accounting Director will also collaborate closely with global teams to ensure integration of financial processes.

What you'll do
- Oversee the preparation and analysis of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with local regulations.
- Manage local tax obligations, including timely filings, statutory reporting, and audits, while ensuring adherence to Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls.
- Execute and review journal entries, treasury operations, and reconciliations between intercompany accounts.
- Monitor and manage cash flow effectively, approving payments related to payroll, taxes, and licensing agreements.
- Address and resolve complex issues related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
- Collaborate with the local General Manager and various global departments, including Tax, Procurement, and Human Resources, to align financial strategies.
- Assist in the development and execution of budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives to support business growth.
- Ensure that all financial practices are in compliance with both local and international accounting standards.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Prepare financial reports for senior management, highlighting key performance indicators and financial trends.
- Engage in strategic discussions with stakeholders to provide insights on financial performance and risk management.
- Stay updated on changes in local tax laws and accounting regulations to ensure compliance and mitigate risks.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline is essential.
- A minimum of 12 years of progressively responsible accounting experience is required.
- Proven experience working within a Mexican affiliate of an international company is necessary.
- Strong knowledge of financial reporting and auditing practices under both Mexican GAAP and IFRS is crucial.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is mandatory for effective communication.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex financial operations and lead a team effectively.
- Familiarity with local tax regulations and compliance requirements is highly desirable.
Nice to have
- Professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent are advantageous.
- Experience with international financial reporting standards (IFRS) is a plus.
- Previous experience in the entertainment or media industry could be beneficial.

- Proficiency in Netsuite and other ERP systems is required for effective financial management.
