What you'll do
- Design and implement robust Kubernetes clusters to support various applications and services across the organization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and refine infrastructure requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Monitor and optimize the performance of Kubernetes environments, troubleshooting issues as they arise to minimize downtime and improve user experience.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate the deployment of applications and services within Kubernetes.
- Create and manage Helm charts and custom Kubernetes resources to facilitate application deployment and scaling.
- Implement security best practices within Kubernetes environments, including role-based access control (RBAC) and network policies.
- Conduct regular performance assessments and capacity planning to ensure the infrastructure can handle future growth.
- Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on best practices in Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies.
- Document architecture, processes, and procedures to ensure knowledge sharing and maintainability across the team.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies related to Kubernetes and cloud-native development.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide support for production systems, addressing incidents and outages as they occur.
- Engage in continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance system reliability and operational efficiency.
Requirements
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering or DevOps roles, with a strong focus on Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go, Python, or Java, with a solid understanding of software development principles.
- Extensive experience with Kubernetes architecture, including deployment strategies, scaling, and troubleshooting.
- Familiarity with cloud service providers such as AWS, GCP, or Azure, and their respective Kubernetes offerings.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, and load balancing, as they relate to Kubernetes environments.
- Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or Ansible for managing cloud resources.
- Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or ELK stack to ensure system observability.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd for managing microservices communication.
- Familiarity with serverless architectures and their integration with Kubernetes.
- Contributions to open-source projects related to Kubernetes or cloud-native technologies.
