About the role
You will own the design and delivery of automated solutions that process large volumes of financial and regulatory data to ensure timely and accurate regulatory reporting. You will analyze complex business requirements from Compliance, Finance, and Treasury partners and translate them into scalable, reliable software designs. You will build and maintain critical integrations that move data between systems, ensuring integrity and auditability across workflows. You will serve as a technical leader within the team, performing hands-on coding, code reviews, and architectural decisions. You will evolve internal standards and best practices to support long-term maintainability and clarity. You will mentor and guide other engineers by sharing knowledge and elevating the overall quality of the codebase. You will contribute to a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement in how regulatory processes are executed.
Key facts
What you'll do
Automate end to end workflows that extract, transform, and validate data from the data warehouse to produce regulatory reporting outputs.
Design and implement scalable data pipelines using Python and SQL to handle large volumes of transactional and reference data.
Partner with Compliance, Finance, and Treasury stakeholders to clarify requirements and translate them into precise technical specifications.
Build and maintain reconciliations that compare source data against reporting outputs to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Leverage REST APIs to integrate with internal systems and external data sources required for regulatory submissions.
Utilize Retool to create internal tools that enable stakeholders to interact with data and monitor reporting health.
Operate and optimize services in a containerized environment using Docker and Kubernetes with Argo for orchestration.
Monitor data quality and pipeline reliability using Metaplane and other observability tools to detect and resolve issues proactively.
Support the delivery of regulatory reports such as EMIR, MFID, SFTR, CPR, and K Factor where applicable within the scope of Clear Street products.
Champion testing, documentation, and knowledge sharing to ensure solutions are robust, maintainable, and understandable by the team.
Collaborate with engineers across the organization to align on standards, improve platform reliability, and reduce technical debt.
Contribute to on call responsibilities to support production issues and ensure high availability of reporting systems.
Promote data security and governance practices across workflows that handle sensitive financial information.
Continuously explore new tools and methodologies to improve the efficiency, clarity, and scalability of reporting pipelines.
Requirements
You have at least three years of software design and development experience including CI/CD, source code control, testing, and quality management.
You are highly proficient in Python and SQL, with strong understanding of database design and experience working with data warehouses like Snowflake to generate complex solutions at scale.
You are a self starter with a sense of urgency and an eagerness to learn and explore new technologies as appropriate to solve business problems.
You are a strong communicator who can interact in a clear and concise manner with non technical business stakeholders, product managers, and engineers.
You can troubleshoot and logically assess problems, determine root causes, and define effective solutions.
You are comfortable working in a fast paced environment where requirements may evolve quickly and ambiguity is common.
You have experience collaborating with cross functional teams and translating business requirements into technical solutions.
You have a disciplined approach to code quality, including writing tests, performing code reviews, and adhering to best practices.
Nice to have
You have experience working in the post trade automation space designing and architecting systems that deliver solutions to complex data problems.
You have experience generating complex financial industry regulatory reports like EMIR, MFID, SFTR, CPR, K Factor etc.
Practical notes
The role requires in person presence in the London office, with a minimum of three days per week in the office as specified in company policy.
