As a Platform Engineer, your customers are our engineers. You will own the design and evolution of the internal developer platform that powers Clear Street's software delivery engine. You will translate complex operational requirements into intuitive self-service capabilities that allow product teams to move with speed and confidence. You will architect and build platform services, automation, and golden paths that abstract away infrastructure complexity from engineers. You will partner deeply with cross-functional teams to identify friction in the development lifecycle and turn those insights into robust platform solutions. You will champion modern practices like Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD automation, and platform observability to raise the bar for engineering excellence. You will experiment with new tooling and workflows to ensure our platform remains performant, secure, and future-facing. You will measure platform health and productivity, driving data-informed improvements that scale with the business.

What You'll Do

Architect and maintain the internal developer platform, enabling engineers to provision infrastructure, deploy applications, manage secrets, and access shared services through intuitive self-service interfaces.

Design, implement, and evolve reusable platform services and SDKs covering identity and authorization, secrets management, deployment orchestration, service discovery, configuration management, and platform APIs.

Create and curate opinionated "golden paths" that make the easiest way also the best way for engineers to build, test, deploy, and operate software safely at scale.

Build and optimize intelligent CI/CD platforms that reduce deployment time, increase release confidence, and automate testing, security, and compliance checks end to end.

Invest in developer workflow improvements by enabling local development environments, faster build systems, ephemeral environments, and automation that removes operational toil.

Define, collect, and act on platform metrics to continuously measure and improve developer productivity, reliability, and operational insight across the engineering organization.

Collaborate closely with application teams to simplify software delivery, resolve pain points, improve reliability, and eliminate repetitive manual operational tasks through automation.

Architect platform capabilities that enhance scalability, resiliency, observability, and operational excellence across all engineering teams.

Lead the adoption of Infrastructure as Code, GitOps, and platform engineering best practices while guiding teams toward modern, efficient engineering workflows.

Explore emerging technologies, AI-assisted development tools, and next-generation developer tooling to transform how Clear Street engineers build and deliver software.

Requirements

Bring 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong track record of building and operating distributed systems.

Demonstrate deep proficiency in infrastructure and platform engineering with hands-on experience building or maintaining internal developer platforms or platform products.

Show mastery of cloud infrastructure, networking, and modern deployment patterns including containers, orchestration, and CI/CD pipelines.

Exhibit fluency in at least one modern programming language used for building platform services and automation, with the ability to write clean, testable, and maintainable code.

Have a proven ability to design and implement APIs and SDKs that enable seamless integration for consumer teams.

Bring strong experience with observability, monitoring, and troubleshooting of distributed platforms and production services.

Show commitment to reliability, security, and operational rigor, with experience implementing best practices for compliance and risk management in financial services environments.

Demonstrate collaboration skills and the ability to influence without authority while working closely with cross-functional product and engineering teams.

Nice to Have

Experience contributing to open source projects or platform tools that are used by multiple teams.

Background in fintech, capital markets, or regulated environments where security, compliance, and reliability are critical.

Familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows and tooling that enhances developer productivity.
