Engineering & Product
Job description
About the role
You will own the definition and execution of critical data workflows that underpin campaign decision-making. You will translate ambiguous questions from advocacy teams into precise data structures and interfaces. Your analysis will determine how geographic context is represented and how constituent information is surfaced. You will ensure that information moving through our systems remains reliable, traceable, and actionable. You will shape the clarity with which campaign staff observe patterns and emerging opportunities. You will act as the primary steward of our core data ingestion and transformation pipelines. Your decisions will directly affect how outreach logic is implemented and experienced by end users.
Key facts
What you'll do
- Map and optimize the pathways through which campaign data enters our systems, ensuring comprehensive capture of relevant signals from diverse sources.
- Design structural frameworks that convert fragmented data points into coherent voter profiles suitable for advocacy use and geographic analysis.
- Analyze behavioral data to verify that observed patterns align correctly with geographic boundaries and historical campaign contexts.
- Coordinate the transfer of work between product and engineering teams to ensure smooth, reliable, and traceable software releases.
- Guide partners through the deployment process, explaining changes to outreach logic and the resulting system behavior in practical terms.
- Conduct testing of interfaces under multiple realistic scenarios to validate stability, performance, and correctness before broad deployment.
- Review performance metrics following product launches, proposing adjustments that enhance clarity, usability, and the accuracy of derived insights.
- Document end-to-end workflows to clarify how information moves between tools, systems, and cross-functional teams involved in advocacy.
- Establish standards for data integrity that protect against corruption, loss, and misinterpretation across the entire lifecycle.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to prioritize data improvements that deliver measurable impact on campaign outcomes.
- Implement monitoring that detects anomalies in data flows, enabling rapid response to issues that could affect field operations.
- Support the refinement of analytical models by providing clean, well-structured datasets that reflect real-world organizing conditions.
- Contribute to the evolution of our platform architecture to accommodate new data sources and changing requirements in political environments.
- Serve as a technical liaison for partners who need to understand complex data relationships without needing deep technical expertise.
Requirements
You must possess a minimum of three years of professional experience managing data for political campaigns or mission-driven organizations operating in similar contexts.
You must demonstrate advanced skill with databases and storage solutions, as well as methods for efficient data movement, transformation, and processing at scale.
You must have hands-on experience working with geographic information systems and related analytical tools, including the interpretation of spatial data.
You must be capable of building data views that illustrate changes and trends over specific time periods, enabling longitudinal analysis for advocacy planning.
You must be able to interpret complex inquiries from non-technical partners and convert them into clear, testable technical specifications and data models.
You must be comfortable operating within an environment of uncertainty, adapting as projects evolve and campaign objectives shift between rapid response and sustained organizing.
You must have a strong command of version control, testing practices, and deployment processes to ensure reliable delivery of data-centric features.
You must communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences, maintaining clarity when discussing constraints, trade-offs, and implementation timelines.
Nice to have
Direct experience collaborating with organizing teams in active field settings, where data decisions directly influence on-the-ground outreach and mobilization.
