About the role

The Healthcare Compliance Specialist at the CDC Foundation is responsible for safeguarding the integrity of the New Jersey Vaccine Program by ensuring strict adherence to federal and state vaccine management standards. This position owns the investigation of temperature excursions and storage handling incidents across a large network of providers to protect public health resources. The hire will serve as a primary technical resource for vaccine storage compliance, interpreting complex data and translating guidelines into actionable steps for diverse stakeholders. Success in this role requires proactive communication and collaboration with vaccine manufacturers, state health officials, and frontline healthcare providers to resolve issues efficiently. The specialist will maintain a high level of professionalism while managing multiple urgent priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. This role supports the development and delivery of educational tools that promote best practices and prevent future compliance issues. Overall, the position plays a critical role in upholding the safety and accountability of federally funded vaccines across the state.

What you'll do

Coordinate with Vaccines for Children jurisdiction staff to monitor and evaluate vaccine storage and handling practices across more than 750 enrolled providers.

Investigate digital data logger (DDL) files to identify out-of-range temperature events and calculate the duration of exposure for affected vaccines.

Collaborate with vaccine manufacturers to validate temperature excursion assessments and determine the viability of potentially compromised vaccines.

Develop and distribute educational materials and tools to internal and external partners regarding proper vaccine storage, handling, and accountability procedures.

Work directly with healthcare providers to create and execute corrective action plans that prevent future storage and handling violations.

Support providers in re-vaccination and restitution efforts following temperature excursions or unaccounted for vaccine doses.

Provide on-site education and hands-on support to provider offices throughout New Jersey that require assistance with vaccine storage compliance.

Analyze digital data logs and interpret results to guide timely and accurate communication with multiple stakeholders.

Build and maintain strong peer-to-peer relationships with state partners, local health departments, and healthcare providers across New Jersey.

Stay current with evolving CDC and manufacturer guidance on vaccine storage and handling to ensure program compliance.

Assist in the documentation and dissemination of updated procedures and protocols as priorities and program needs change.

Contribute to the overall success of the New Jersey Department of Health's Vaccine Preventable Disease Program through reliable execution of assigned tasks.

Adapt to shifting priorities and evolving public health requirements in a dynamic program environment.

Participate in special projects or emergency responses related to vaccine storage and compliance as requested.

Requirements

Minimum of 1 year of public health and/or pharmacy experience, or experience working with an immunization program, strongly preferred.

Demonstrated experience with vaccine storage, handling, and management according to CDC and manufacturer guidelines.

Skilled proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the ability to perform data analysis, interpretation, and evaluation independently.

Completion of a pharmacy technician certification is preferred.

Self-motivated with exceptional organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail.

Ability to work collaboratively with technical experts, administrators, external partners, and the public.

Excellent time management skills and the capacity to multi-task, prioritize workloads, and meet deadlines.

Exceptional oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills for interacting with diverse audiences.

Must possess a valid driver's license in the state of New Jersey only if the operation of a vehicle is necessary to perform essential job duties.

Ability to meet the operational and policy requirements related to motor vehicle use as defined by the CDC Foundation Driver Safety Motor Vehicle Policy.

Appointees must authorize a Motor Vehicle Record review pre-employment and annually thereafter while in the role.

Employees in this role must maintain a valid driver's license, self-report any motor vehicle violations or convictions, and provide proof of acceptable insurance coverage as required by policy.

This role may require the operation of a motor vehicle as part of job responsibilities.

Compliance with the CDC Foundation Driver Safety Motor Vehicle Policy is mandatory for all appointed employees.
