About the role
The AWS Data Engineer designs, builds, and sustains data solutions on Amazon Web Services to power enterprise analytics. This position owns the end to end lifecycle of data pipelines, ensuring they are robust, secure, and scalable. The role works closely with technology and business partners to turn complex requirements into reliable data infrastructure. Success is measured by the performance, efficiency, and maintainability of the data platform. This position is based in Tulsa and operates within the Client Solutions engagement model. The role interfaces directly with internal stakeholders and external clients to deliver data capabilities that meet contractual and operational commitments.

What you'll do
- Implement automated ingestion processes that capture raw data streams and files as they land in cloud storage.
- Construct and maintain batch and streaming pipelines using managed compute and storage services to ensure continuous data flow.
- Enforce security configurations, access policies, and network controls to safeguard data assets against unauthorized exposure.
- Author high performance SQL queries that directly feed dashboards, reports, and analytical applications used by decision makers.
- Collaborate with analytics teams to evolve data models, balancing flexibility with query efficiency to meet evolving business questions.
- Coordinate workflow schedules and dependencies across systems to ensure timely, dependable job execution and delivery.
- Embed data quality validations at every stage of transformation to catch anomalies early and prevent downstream errors.
- Create and maintain runbooks that describe monitoring, alerting, and incident response procedures for operational resilience.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot network issues, latency bottlenecks, and performance degradation in distributed cloud environments.
- Partner with technical and non technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into durable data infrastructure solutions.
- Document architectural decisions, trade offs, and design rationales to ensure clarity and continuity for the team.
- Adhere to governance policies, data privacy standards, and regulatory requirements in all data handling activities.
- Mentor junior engineers by sharing patterns, best practices, and operational insights to elevate the overall team capability.
- Participate in on call rotations, responding to alerts and supporting production systems to maintain high availability.
- Ensure that data pipelines are observable, maintainable, and aligned with business objectives through continuous improvement.
Requirements
You bring three to five years of experience building data platforms in cloud environments and understand the complexities of operating in production. You have hands on work with Amazon Redshift, Amazon S3, and Amazon Athena to store, process, and query large data sets efficiently. You write efficient SQL and code in Python or Scala to process large volumes of data while optimizing for performance and cost. You understand dimensional modeling, star schemas, and data warehouse architecture patterns to structure information for analytical consumption. You use infrastructure as code tools and CI CD pipelines to deploy cloud resources consistently and safely. You diagnose network issues, latency bottlenecks, and performance degradation in distributed systems to maintain service levels. You verify details and requirements with precision to ensure that implementations match expectations exactly. You communicate clearly with technical and non technical audiences, documenting decisions and trade offs for future reference. You adhere to governance policies, data privacy standards, and regulatory requirements in all data activities. You participate in on call rotations, responding to alerts and supporting production systems as part of operational responsibilities.
