About the role
This position represents a foundational opportunity within the inaugural engineering team established in Dublin to drive the expansion of our international operations across key markets. You will be responsible for designing and implementing full-stack solutions that directly support our UK and Canadian dealer-facing products, ensuring they meet high standards of performance and reliability. In this role, you will actively shape the emerging culture and engineering practices of our new office, fostering a collaborative and innovative environment. The hire will work closely with product and engineering partners to translate business requirements into robust technical specifications and solve complex challenges. You will own the end-to-end delivery of features, managing the complete software lifecycle from initial design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing monitoring. A key responsibility involves integrating with external third-party APIs and expanding the functionality of our existing services to meet evolving business needs. This role is critical for establishing the technical foundation and best practices that will define the success of the Dublin team as we scale.

What you'll do
- Collaborate with product and engineering partners to define requirements and solve technical challenges for our marketplace platforms.
- Build and maintain robust two-sided marketplace products using a scalable service-oriented architecture.
- Manage the complete software lifecycle, encompassing design, development, automated testing, deployment, and monitoring activities.
- Contribute to the growth and maturity of the Dublin office by establishing and enforcing engineering standards and team best practices.
- Integrate with third-party APIs and expand the existing service functionality to enhance our dealer-facing offerings.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-tested code that adheres to high quality standards and architectural guidelines.
- Conduct thorough code reviews to ensure design integrity, code quality, and knowledge sharing across the engineering team.
- Analyze complex problems by applying strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and computational complexity analysis.
- Take a self-motivated approach to identifying and resolving project blockers while effectively managing individual ownership of tasks.
- Communicate technical status updates and collaborate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders on a regular basis.
- Develop user interfaces that are responsive and provide an excellent user experience using modern frontend technologies.
- Utilize version control systems and other development tools to maintain high standards of code quality and project organization.
- Participate in the full deployment process, ensuring that applications are stable, performant, and secure in production environments.
- Continuously explore and evaluate new technologies to improve our service offerings and internal engineering workflows.
Requirements
- Possess 2-3 years of professional software design and development experience in a relevant field.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Java and the Spring Boot framework, with a strong grasp of core object-oriented programming principles.
- Have hands-on experience developing responsive user interfaces using React and TypeScript effectively.
- Show a strong understanding of fundamental algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis to solve engineering problems.
- Be able to write clean, efficient, and well-tested code while providing constructive feedback during code reviews.
- Have experience with relational database systems and working within distributed system architectures.
- Exhibit a self-motivated approach to resolving blockers and taking ownership of project deliverables.
- Maintain strong communication skills for providing status updates and engaging in technical collaboration with team members.
