About the role

You will own the end-to-end operational lifecycle for government and national security programs at Cape, ensuring that every deployment, release, and fulfillment event meets the strictest standards of reliability and security. You serve as the primary operational owner for the Government/National Security stream, driving outcomes from initial request through final deployment and post-mission review. In this role, you act as the definitive Tier 2 technical authority, diagnosing high-complexity issues and coordinating directly with engineering and mission partners to resolve them. You will codify complex processes into field-ready playbooks and SOPs, creating the foundational knowledge that allows Cape to scale secure communications to large government programs. You will maintain a high-tempo, ready-to-field posture, leading surge responses and critical mission windows without compromise. You will lead rigorous operational readiness and QA for every release, acting as the final gatekeeper that blocks high-risk deployments before they reach the field. You will translate ambiguous operational risks into clear, actionable briefings for commanders and stakeholders, ensuring that mission communication remains precise and decisive.

What you'll do

• Assume end-to-end accountability for operational outcomes within the Government/National Security stream, ensuring that every goal directly supports mission success in the field.
• Serve as the definitive Tier 2 technical subject matter expert (SME) for post-deployment issues, resolving high-complexity technical hurdles through advanced troubleshooting and coordination with internal engineering or external mission partners.
• Lead the tactical deployment and fulfillment of hardware and specialized services, ensuring seamless delivery, integration, and operator onboarding for deployments where failure is not an option.
• Execute rigorous, end-to-end QA for weekly releases to validate compatibility across device, operating system, and secure network layers, identifying and blocking high-risk deployments.
• Codify complex technical processes into comprehensive internal and external standard operating procedures (SOPs) and field playbooks to scale support for large-scale government programs.
• Maintain a "Ready-to-Field" posture, flexing to lead high-impact projects or reallocate resources during surge requirements or critical mission windows.
• Own mission-critical communications by leading high-stakes technical dialogues with clarity and authority, translating complex system failures into actionable go/no-go information for commanders and stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement by analyzing operational metrics, identifying bottlenecks, and implementing process refinements that increase throughput and reliability for government customers.
• Partner closely with product, engineering, and security teams to ensure that operational constraints are surfaced early and that new capabilities are delivered with full operability.
• Act as the central coordination point for cross-functional incident response, ensuring timely resolution and minimal disruption to government missions.

Requirements

• 4-5+ years of progressively responsible operations, business, or technical operations experience in a high-stakes, high-velocity environment.
• Demonstrated ability to own complex, end-to-end operational workflows with minimal supervision.
• Advanced proficiency in troubleshooting technical issues and coordinating resolutions across distributed teams and partners.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical details into clear, concise briefings for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong aptitude for learning and rapidly mastering new technologies, platforms, and secure communication systems.
• Proven experience working with government, defense, or national security stakeholders and an understanding of the associated compliance and operational constraints.
• High reliability and discipline, with a bias for action and a commitment to delivering results even under tight deadlines and pressure.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive or classified-level information.

Nice to have

• Experience with secure communications platforms, cellular infrastructure, or mobile device management technologies.
• Familiarity with federal acquisition regulations, compliance frameworks, or government procurement processes.
• Background in quality assurance, test planning, or release management for mission-critical systems.
• Experience supporting deployments in remote or contested environments.
