About the company
Cape is a garment category defined by a sleeveless outer layer that hangs loosely from the neck or shoulders. The design covers the back, shoulders, and arms without enclosing the sleeves. Lengths vary from short shoulder coverings to full-length versions that reach the ankles. The construction relies on a simple cut that drapes over the body rather than fitting close to it. History shows the garment appearing in many cultures across centuries. Military units adopted capes for weather protection and ease of movement. Religious orders used them as part of daily vestments. Rural workers wore heavy wool versions against rain and wind. Aristocratic dress codes included fine fabrics trimmed with fur or embroidery. Each context shaped the silhouette and material choice. Modern production uses wool, cotton, synthetic blends, and technical fabrics. Fastenings range from simple ties and hooks to decorative clasps. Some designs add a hood for additional coverage. Others feature slits at the front to allow arm movement without slipping. The lack of sleeves remains the constant feature across all variations. Retail markets offer capes as seasonal outerwear, costume pieces, and high-fashion statements. Designers adjust volume, collar height, and hemline to match current trends. The garment continues to serve both practical and ceremonial roles. Its simple architecture allows adaptation to new materials and uses without changing the basic form.
