As a , you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the successful execution of solar energy projects from inception to completion. What you'll do

• Lead the planning and execution of solar energy projects, ensuring adherence to timelines and budget constraints.
• Develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, objectives, resources, and timelines, while identifying potential risks and mitigation strategies.
• Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure that technical specifications are met and that all project deliverables align with client expectations.
• Manage procurement processes for materials and services, negotiating contracts and ensuring that all suppliers meet quality and delivery requirements.
• Facilitate communication between stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and internal teams, to ensure transparency and alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
• Monitor project progress and performance metrics, preparing regular reports for senior management and stakeholders to keep them informed of developments.
• Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards, addressing any issues that arise promptly.
• Implement best practices in project management and contribute to the continuous improvement of processes and methodologies within the organization.
• Assist in the development of project budgets and forecasts, tracking expenditures and ensuring financial accountability.
• Support the training and development of junior project team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
• Engage in post-project evaluations to assess outcomes and identify lessons learned for future projects.
• Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulations related to solar energy, applying this knowledge to enhance project outcomes.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Project Management, or a related field.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in project management within the renewable energy sector, preferably in solar energy.
• Proven track record of successfully managing projects from conception through to completion, demonstrating strong organizational skills.
• Familiarity with project management software and tools, such as MS Project, Primavera, or similar applications.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Knowledge of relevant safety standards and regulations in the construction and renewable energy industries.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail.

Nice to have

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent.
• Experience with financial modeling and budgeting for engineering projects.
• Familiarity with solar energy technologies and systems, including photovoltaic and thermal systems.
• Previous experience in a client-facing role, with a focus on building and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Understanding of environmental regulations and sustainability practices in the energy sector.

Skills & tools

• Proficient in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or similar design software is a plus.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Strong negotiation and conflict resolution abilities.

Practical notes

• This position is based in Magaliessig, Sandton, and may require occasional travel to project sites.
