What you'll do
- Lead the electrical design team in the development of innovative solar energy solutions, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to define project scopes, timelines, and deliverables for electrical design tasks.
- Oversee the preparation of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout plans for solar installations.
- Conduct thorough reviews of design documents to ensure accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
- Manage the integration of electrical systems with other engineering disciplines, including structural and mechanical designs.
- Develop and implement best practices for electrical design processes, focusing on efficiency and quality improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and design staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, to ensure successful project execution.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes to inform design practices and strategic planning.
- Prepare and present design proposals and reports to senior management and clients, effectively communicating technical concepts.
- Participate in site assessments and inspections to ensure that electrical installations meet design specifications and safety standards.
- Contribute to the development of project budgets and timelines, ensuring that electrical design components are delivered on schedule and within budget.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical design, preferably within the renewable energy sector.
- Strong knowledge of electrical design software such as AutoCAD, PVSyst, or similar tools.
- Proven experience in designing electrical systems for solar energy projects, including grid-tied and off-grid systems.
- Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards, including IEC, NEC, and local regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience managing teams and projects.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools.
Nice to have
- Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience with energy storage systems and hybrid renewable energy systems.
- Familiarity with simulation and modeling software for electrical systems.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies and tools.
