About the role
Buildout is seeking a Senior Product Manager to lead the strategy and development of our AI initiatives. You will be responsible for defining the capabilities of our AI assistant, ensuring its intelligent integration into our platform, and upholding a high standard for its performance. This role will also focus on enhancing AI-driven marketing and document creation tools to help commercial real estate brokers win and sell listings more efficiently. You will define the long-term vision, strategic direction, and product roadmap for AI features, prioritizing which capabilities to build and when. The role requires direct engagement with customers to understand their workflows, test AI functionalities, and translate these learnings into product improvements. You will manage the product backlog, balancing customer value, technical feasibility, and quality considerations from ideation through launch and ongoing refinement.

What you'll do
Define the long-term vision, strategic direction, and product roadmap for AI features, prioritizing which capabilities to build and when.
Engage directly with customers to understand their workflows, test AI functionalities, and translate these learnings into product improvements.
Manage the product backlog, balancing customer value, technical feasibility, and quality considerations from ideation through launch and ongoing refinement.
Establish clear quality benchmarks and evaluation criteria for AI features, overseeing their implementation and reviewing any regressions.
Determine the appropriate application of deterministic logic versus large language models for specific AI functions.
Design and refine prompt engineering, context management, and retrieval mechanisms based on measured performance rather than assumptions.
Implement safety measures, including data grounding, permission controls, confirmation steps, hallucination mitigation, and rollback procedures.
Translate complex broker workflows into detailed specifications for engineering teams, outlining triggers, data inputs, outputs, and necessary safeguards.
Ask insightful questions and actively remove obstacles for the engineering team.
Track key performance indicators, including product adoption, task success rates, model accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.
Conduct ongoing experimentation with AI features to identify opportunities for enhancement and validate hypotheses against real-world usage.
Synthesize feedback from brokers to identify patterns that inform the prioritization of new AI capabilities and workflow optimizations.
Collaborate with design and data science teams to iterate on user interfaces and model performance for seamless user adoption.
Ensure alignment between AI product initiatives and broader business objectives around efficiency, accuracy, and broker satisfaction.
Champion the voice of the customer within cross-functional discussions to guide decisions on AI functionality and user experience.
Requirements
Demonstrated experience in product management, with at least 1-2 years specifically focused on shipping AI or LLM-powered features to users.
Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping tools such as Claude, Cursor, or Replit.
Familiarity with prompt engineering, context engineering, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), along with a practical understanding of LLM capabilities and limitations.
Proficiency in product discovery techniques, including customer interviews, problem validation, and translating insights into actionable roadmap items.
Proven ability to collaborate closely with engineering and design teams to deliver high-quality software in a dynamic environment.
Sufficient technical understanding to discuss trade-offs between models, data, and latency with engineers.
Excellent communication skills, capable of conveying complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences, and comfort navigating ambiguity.
A minimum of 5 years of overall product management experience.
Nice to have
Experience in commercial real estate, proptech, or vertical SaaS industries.
Prior experience building AI assistants, copilots, or agentic products.
